Wade can't hit a jumper anymore (or free throws). Lebron still misses key free throws and defers during crunch time. The supporting cast is just as shitty as a motley crew can possibly be. Zero thought was put into the team when it was being constructed. Mike Miller's contract will haunt them for years.

I'm not even expecting Wade to get suspended at all because the NBA's the worst league in terms of giving stars preferential treatment... for obvious reasons, but still.
Still expect Indiana to win game 3 even if Wade doesn't get suspended - not having Bosh is gonna kill them in Indiana (instead of just making them a significantly weaker favorite)

Haslem and Miller's contracts are a mistake in hindsight, but other than that, I'm not sure what Riley could have done. He doesn't exactly have a lot of tools to work with, just the vet minimum and mini-mle. Older players looking for their 3rd contract are pretty much the only thing Miami could get.

Miami just held them to 38% shooting and had a +5 TO differential and still lost (at home) and Bosh isn't coming back any time soon.
This is going 6 or 7 in either direction.

Riley should have never paired Lebron and Wade in the first place. That is all on Riley. Can you imagine what kind of pieces he could have surrounded Bosh/Wade with using Lebron's contract?
He could have assembled a team instead of 3 stars and some scrubs. Oh, or he could have at least tried to sign stars whose games mesh. Riley gets praised for signing big names, he gets blame for constructing a flawed team.

While I agree that the Heat are not the best constructed team, the big 3 were probably a package deal, and I'm not sure what the better alternative was to signing the best player in the NBA in LeBron.
Sign LeBron. Sign Bosh. Trade Wade.

I'm looking at 2010-11 offseason transactions and (speaking strictly FA, not trades) I'm not sure any player in that class would've come close even if Riley tried to construct a team rather than a bludgeon.

At the very least, he should have gone after Korver over Miller. Would have been a much better fit.
