The Spurs got swept out of the first round? Dude...

The real difference? Healthy Manu.

I wasn't using swept literally in that sense, more like knocked out of the first round. Sorry, bad word choice obviously.

The real difference? Easier competition and a better overall team. None of which is primarily Duncan's credit.

As for this year's playoffs. Duncan can give you 16-7 and the team can still blow out the opposition. If Kobe gives you 16-7 this year...you're probably losing the game.

The Spurs went through a full rebuilding from 2008 till now. No one except the big 3 is still there. The Lakers did that from 2005-2008 too. And won two chips. Let's let him win a couple chips before we consider his in-career rebuild as successful.

As for him relinquishing control. Duncan can't be the dominant player for 66 games anymore. He plays 28 minutes a night, gets 15 and 9, and still has to take nights off. Those are 2nd option, 3rd option numbers. Not first option numbers. Kobe can still give you first option numbers and play B2B2B's. There will come a time when Kobe can only do 15 and 5 and play 25 minutes a night, but he's not there yet.

how do you keep your 3 best players and coach and go through a "full rebuilding"?

Lakers-fan logic.

The better question is, how are you in "full rebuild" and win 50 (shutup TCB) games a year?

I was actually trying to give Duncan a pass for losing so much in the past 4 years, but sure, let's go with your idea.

He didn't full rebuild, he had a team good enough to contend, except he flamed out 3 times in the first round and another time got swept in the second.

That a better narrative for "Duncan's game aged gracefully"?

Its like you have no grasp of history

fact check your posts ffs

lakers current status is like an armadillo that has been run over by a 4x4 pickup truck.
the lower half is flattened like a pancake and the upper portion, which is the head, is still gasping for air.
the humane thing to do is crush its head and end its misery.
c'mon OKC, do the right thing and end it tonight.

UCLA point guards have been balling. I still remember when Collison and Holiday were on the same team and Ben Holland tried to make Holiday play SG. That didn't work well at all. I'm glad he's doing his thing now.

Defense exists.

His point stands that Kobe needs pull more weight than Duncan for his team to succeed. Manu/Parker and the rest of the Spurs are more capable of winning with a smaller contrubuition from their franchise player than the Lakers are.

I'd say the Spurs are a smarter squad overall, better coached (Pop is a 2/10 compared to Mike Brown's 1/10), and are more balanced.

So yeah, if Kobe regularly produces 16/7, there's going to be a lot of losing... while if Timmy does so, it will be made up by the rest of the team.

Also, Timmy is looking energized these days. Great time management by Pop (the bum).

Rondo was also under the rim....so Jrue was with his man.

are they stupid?

They still have a point.

Even if Rondo is his man, gotta be back there in case Pierce or Ray-Ray slips away. And just like they showed on the replay, Jrue gambled again, Celtics get the rebound and get it ahead to Rondo who's only a few steps ahead of Jrue but still leads to a wide open floor.
