the stars he must have scene, ouch

Hopefully Belgium live up to the hype. Them and Russia should easily qualify from the group.

I'm really looking forward to Belgium play, they and Croatia were my two "underdog" picks to go furthest in the tournament.... Croatia didn't look so great vs Brazil(probably didn't deserve the result though).... let's see if Belgium shows otherwise.

"No foul given"

The officiating in this World Cup has been so up and down(but that's a usual trend it seems) some refs are calling touch fouls and giving dubious penalties... meanwhile guys are getting bloody noses and kicked in the face and no foul is even being called. Things like that make some games frustrating to watch... that's what happens when they get referees from inferior leagues I'm sorry to say. I understand they want refs to represent the world but these refs from African countries, or European countries from inferior leagues like the USA v Ghana match with the Swedish referee have a hard time controlling some of these matches because they aren't used to this pace or style of play.

That should have been a card, he got really lucky there.

Well, it certainly should have been blown for dangerous play, but I honestly don't think there was any malice there. (but that's why dangerous play is given when players try to play high balls with their feet in traffic)

I'm not sure a red was warranted, but it was a crazy play.

That wasn't a foul though, the Ghana player actually won the header, the only reason the USA player got kicked in the head is because he was leading with his elbow and pushed the Ghana player over, if anything it would be a foul called on the USA player. There is no card there.

No, not a red but that was a pretty reckless kick. Maybe a yellow but they should have called something there.

Bullshit. That's a foul for dangerous play 100 times out of 100.

I wasn't following this thread, what happened to that pro-Ghana ******* who kept shitting on the US? Hoping for a link to a hilarious meltdown....

According to Ian Darke, Dempsey's goal is now officially 29 seconds, third fastest in World Cup history.
Good, fuck FIFA for trying to rob us of 5 seconds.

The victory was great for USA, but they didn't look great at all. The right side is suspect and could easily be taken advantage of by Germany and Portugal in upcoming games. Klinsmann needs to find a way to shore up the right side and prevent the the constant through balls Ghana had throughout the game.

USA had quality chances but let too many chances happen for an unskilled Ghana (compared to 2006 and 2010). They need to find chemistry in the midfield and organization in the back to make it out of the group stage.

Dangerous play is a foul... that's a foul. I am not saying it should have been a card... contact to the head whether intentional or not, is a foul. It's in the rule book.

He got kicked in the head, that's a foul. Come on man.

If it is considered reckless or careless, I guess I just don't think he was trying to kick the guy, you all do. I just thought that was incidental contact in that case caused by the momentum of the challenge, I'll grant you it does look like his leg flies straight at his head. For the record I think Sulley Muntari should have been sent off for his multiple bad challenges. I don't have a particular agenda.

how many players does America have on the team that weren't born in America?

John Brooks, Jermaine Jones, Diskerud, Chandler, Fabian Johnson? And they're all german too no? Minus Diskerud.

There doesn't need to be contact for a dangerous play foul.

Correct, and the fact that there actually was contact makes it much more of a foul.... it's unintentional and no card should have been given. A similar play would be an offensive player trying to go for a scissor kick or bicycle kick and accidentally contacting a player. It's a foul but unintentional therefore no yellow.
