2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

6/10

- too much time wasted on multiplats that will be superior on other platforms
- Mostly games we already knew about
- No actual surprises, we knew of Kamiya, we knew about Halo, we knew about Crackdown, and Phantom Dust was heavily hinted at
- CGI Trailers out the wazoo, seriously, why show games years out?
- Failed to deliver.
- SO looked great, but a bit rough, still needs work

So their 2014 lineup is: Forza Horizon 2 (360/X1), Halo Collection (a remaster of years old games), and SO..

Would've been a good show if most of the stuff they showed wasn't leaked already..
Still excited about the Halo Collection and Scalebound looks bad ass.

The Main Character's design for Scalebound looks.. strange to me though.

Well quite underwhelming.

But I guess their primary goal was to attract those former fans who turned their back on xbox franchise, thus all these Halo / old Xbox games.

I am not expecting much from sony´s press conference either...

It was decent.

I feel like even if ntkrnl didn't leak Microsoft's plans, that conference still wouldn't have been over the top awesome or anything.

It was fine for what it was though.

It's ok that they announced some games that aren't ready and have shown CGI trailers.
It's ok that made a big fuss of timed exclusive DLCs, they are spending money on them (even if I don't like this timed content b******t).
It's ok that there were a lot of multiplatform games...
Buuuuut aside The witcher, some bits of Fable, and Sunset Overdrive I haven't seen enough good gameplay....

7/10 average confernce for me, wouldn't watch again u.u

EDIT: Oh yeah, ORI made me HAPPY =)

The pacing was great, and I'm pleased they kept the on-stage talking heads to a dull roar, but I have to admit the bevy of CG trailers and 3rd party ~exclusive content~ features just felt like a lot of padding to what amounted to very little to actually show. I've got some names I'm interested in, but not much in the way of actual gameplay to be hyped over.

Still nice to see the Platinum game finally show itself. #TeamCBOAT4lyfe

I thought MS did a pretty good job considering how awful their press conference was last year. They have really turned around the Xbox brand this past year, and this conference was definitely a step in the right direction. There were plenty of games in there that I would be interested in if I had an Xbox One, but there was nothing there that screamed BUY AN XBOX ONE. I have a feeling that a lot of these "exclusives" won't stay exclusives for long either.... i.e. Mass Effect...

We'll have to see what Sony and Nintendo drops to truly determine how MS did.

inb4 zelda, metroid, and project beast..

I do think MS deserves a pat on the back, though. No kinect talk, no TV features talk, just games. No mind-blowing surprises, and they featured a lot of multiplat games, but it was all about games.

Respect +1

Show wasn't bad at all. I'm pretty excited about new Halo, which many are not. A lot of the leaks ruined the surprises and no huge game announcements (even though I have no idea what would completely floor me) but everything looked solid. A lot of CG but the game announcements enough make me excited for Xbox One's future.

+pacing was great
+lots of games shown
+finally referring to the benefits of the "cloud" as dedicated servers
+that halo collection is nuts

-not many new ips announced and none from MS studios
-way too much CGI
-no real megaton surprises

Overall pretty solid though, I'd give it a B/B+. Will probably get a XB1 in 2015.

That was pretty disappointing considering how much they hyped up E3. Everyone was confident in them bringing a bunch of "megatons".

Sunset Overdrive and Ori looked amazing and I'm interested in seeing gameplay footage of Platinum Games' new IP.

I'd give it a 5/10.

+ Ori looked amazing
+ Witcher 3 still looks great
+ Platinum's game looks interesting

- WAY too many shooters
- Almost everything 2015 was a CG trailer
- No Halo 5 confused the hell out of me

I'd give it a B- or C+

Pros:
Some good gameplay footage
All 90 minutes spent on showcasing games
No mention of Kinect, or anything by EA Sports
Talking was kept short and sweet
No overly done presentations
Crackdown

Cons:
Nothing but mostly cutscenes for the big titles
No real "wow" moments
To me, the in game footage didn't really look all that great

Solid show. Can't wait to see what Sony and Nintendo has coming.

Not really impressed with any of the exclusives (it's all CGI) and the graphics they did show all looked cross gen or worse. Sunset Overdrive looks great but I'm not sure about the gameplay... looks like it'll be rather bland once you get used to the visuals.

Hopefully Sony has some better shit to show.

When MS announced their horrible policies last year I was going with the PS4. Then they got pimp slapped by the community and repented so I was on the fence. Now that all the Halo games are going to be on the xbox one with multiplayer that's a no brainer for me.

I'd give the conference a solid 7 out of 10. I appreciate the pacing and the flow. I think it was nice to see a steady flow of games and announcements and no filler and fluff. But, there was nothing that wasn't really expected. Felt pretty safe. Not that it is a bad thing, but I was surprised to see Microsoft go that route.

Underwhelming. Mutiplats and CGI trailers galore.

This. CGI in 2015!

Great pacing for the conf, but nothing, absolutely nothing stood out. Nothing made my jaw drop...
It was overhyped an I fucking fell for it. I will be late to work; called them and said I was at the hospital and would come over as soon as possible...For this mediocre -bad- show, filled with CGI...

Never again!

probably won e3 with the master chief collection--Uncharted 2 and TLoU were two of my favorite games of last gen but I simply can't imagine Sony having a damn thing in their arsenal to even touch MCC

Not a lot to showcase XB1 as a platform. A good demonstration of titles that I can mainly play elsewhere. Then again, that had been Microsoft for a good 5 years now.

Sunset Overdrive was the clear winner here. Taking the piss out of the grimdark COD shootery stuff was a bit on the nose, but still appreciated. Beautiful colours, smooth animation, it just looks like pure fun. I read the Edge article last month but it didn't do it justice, I was really impressed.

Crackdown is nice to have back with D. Jones at the helm. Halo Collection we knew about, but it will also be great to have everything on one disc, Criterion-ized for your pleasure. Plus a day without Dan Ayoub on stage is like a woman without diamonds or a day without Twinkies. Good stuff.

Felt bad for the Harmonix dev. Sucks to have the rug pulled out from underneath you like that.

All in all, a decent conference. No megatons.

Sunset overdives fake ouit was awesome. I think this will be very good E3 for isomniac

Me and my friend came up with a good analogy to describe this conference. Because I also felt a bit underwhelmed...

It was like Christmas morning but all your gifts werent wrapped and it was most of the gifts you wanted on your list. It is really nice, but not that kind of exciting. "Oh! Neat. Thanks mom and dad. This is what I wanted!"

I've never been a fan of just STRAIGHT games... It kind of makes it all a fog.

It was okay. I reacted most to TW3 gameplay. Most other things shown I'm just not interested in but it was pretty okay overall.

Disappointed. Every multi platform game I thought to myself this will look better on PS4 and PC. As for new exclusives, they were Phantom Dust, Crackdown and and Platinum Games New IP which all were CO trailers and look far off. It seems MS are desperate to show of games early I am questioning if those games are even 2015 games.
Well, they paid to delay several DLC's of some multi-platform games on the PS4.

As I've already said, Phil Spencer way overhyped his conference.
It was solid, but nothing special.

Underwhelming. Mutiplats and CGI trailers galore.

Agreed. Not a single unexpected exclusive. Nothing exclusive looked interesting to me, either. Maaaaybe Sunset Overdrive, but I wouldn't buy a Xbox One for that.

I loved Crackdown so much, but hated 2 the same amount and thus I have no interest in 3.

Completely adequate show. Not gonna sell me an One. Sunset Overdrive and Crackdown were the best looking things, and one was pure CGI. No surprises, which was surprising in itself. But I'm glad, because I'm loving my PS4 this gen.

Nothing better than people saying: "Meh, I'm not that impressed at least they talked about games" when that's exactly what they did last year too.

"Playing it safe" would be a much more fitting criticism.

Conference was solid. A whole lot of good games there. No chest thumping, no social television integrated this that the other, it was solid.

Two complaints :
1) No knock out blow. No "and one more thing" moment to truly explode the room.
2) Seemed to have been played a little safe. But I suppose that's what Microsoft needed after last year!

7 / 10, very solid conference, and I enjoyed it. Well done to those who put it together.

That was a solid conference. They said it would be about games, and they delivered.
Nothing mind blowing, but there were a lot of cool announcements.
The two most interesting looking games for me were Inside and Sunset Overdrive

The conference was good. I enjoyed it. MS didn't waste time talking. They just showed games. In fact, they showed so many games - I can't remember a single conference with this many games

However, almost major reveals were CG trailers. I hate CG trailers. They show fuck all when it comes to a game. You might as well reveal the game in MS Paint if you're just going to show CG (without gameplay).
