2015 Console Screenshot Thread (PS4, XB1, Wii U) [READ OP!]

JC3 has its ups and downs when it comes to graphics. Just look at the FOW in my first pic... I don't remember JC2 having such problems. :)

yeah I got rid of that first shot because the mountain looks horrendous but I would tolerate it for cheap

Last XCX-screenshot I'll post, at least for a while. Taking too long stopping, disabling UI, getting it on abload and posting here on the Wii U. It's a great and good-looking game (runs very smoothly too), though; 25 hours in and I've barely scratched the surface (I've surveyed a whopping 11.14% of the world so far).

I finally got my hands on Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k so I tried Durante's PtBi alongside ReShade.
Wanted to see if I can enhance Bloodborne with reducing chromatic aberration and cleaning up the image a bit.
Anyway:

PtBi + ReShade

no ReShade (almost vanilla except PtBi scaling):

Best open then in a separate tab to compare.

Both are rendered at my native res (1440p) and use PtBi's adaptive lanczos resampling and SMAA.
It's not perfect, I know, and even though I'm using a ReShade mask for ingame UI all the other menus have chromatic aberration on them (CA that I used to counter the ingame CA).

Here are some close-up details:

If anyone wants the preset and has a PtBi compatible capture card - hit me up.

Wait, why are we posting photoshopped screenshots?
I mean, if people like it then I think someone should make a thread for it.

This is still quite obviously the best graphics tbh. It maintains the illusion of pre-rendered CGI better than any other game during both gameplay and cutscenes, all in real time.

I want that if you don't mind, I can't upscale to that res tho so it's probably not working exactly as it did for you there. I'm already eying the newer Intensity Pro, your modified Bloodbourne images are much easier on the eyes to me, I always felt like seeing double images (which wasn't far from the truth) when looking at the borders of screenshots from that game. I want to play the game like that for sure!

I've tried to get rid of the aliasing in FAST Racing NEO with extra heavy FXAA but I failed, that game seems extra resistant to extra anti aliasing with PtBi and ReShade. The game is extremely fun and in motion it doesn't even matter if there is aliasing or not as everything is blurred af from the motionblur anyway. It's not nice for screenshots though, out of frustration I murdered the rest of the image quality with deband and filmgrain out the A. and slight tilt shift.
Sue me ;)

Here you go. It's for the latest ReShade Framework 1.1, openGL32.dll (but you already know that).
Yeah, you might need to adjust a few things like ChromaAmount (in YACA shader) for your resolution. This CA shader removes the vertical CA in Bloodborne pretty well but the horizontal is still slightly visible.

Fun times with PtBi and ReShade. :)

Amazing what a touch of extra post-processing power can do. Bloodborne looks a lot better with the counter CA filter.

Edit: Wait, Fast racing neo is out? Brb, going to boot up my WiiU.
So...... what's happening?
What's up with the bullshots?
What bullshots? Photomode shots have been posted since before this thread even started.

Is that how the game looks on the Wii U, though?
Photo mode is one thing, because it's on the console, but taking a screenshot and running it through photoshop is a whole different thing.

Which shots are photoshopped? If you mean the shots posted by Auto-Reply and NattyDread those are real times shots. You can achieve the same by running the video output from your console through a PtBi compatible capture card which will allow your PC's GPU to add some finishing touches to the image in real time.

Isn't that the equivalent of running it through photoshop?
What are the finishing touches? AA only?

You are not completely wrong about comparing this to photoshop, post process effects have become standard in games since the hardware became fast enough to calculate them in realtime so they have become part of the graphics overall, you could call them realtime photoshop but they are more complex and dynamic.
This is very similar to the shaders you see in games, or even the exact same thing (Durante knows way more about this than I do though so I better not say too much).
For example, the chromatic aberration shader in bloodborne can be slightly reversed by a similar shader in ReShade, in realtime, playable with minimal lag.

Okay, what does everyone else think about them being show here? Or have a dedicated thread for them?
It feels a bit weird, as this thread was about how the games look on the consoles natively, where a screenshot was just a copy of the image seen on screen.
But if in general people are okay with them, then that's cool, don't mind me.

I'd say its fine for them to be here. Even the Wii U screens with post-processing are still representative of what the games look like when being played with the Wii U plugged into a TV directly over HDMI. Most TVs perform real-time post-processing but when you take a screenshot it's from the Wii U's framebuffer so it doesn't have the TV's post-processing. Running the Wii U through a capture card and taking screenshots should be allowed here provided the capture card is only doing real-time post-processing that a high-end TV would also be capable of.

I honestly find both PS4 and Wii U games look better on my TV than they do in the screenshots in this thread. Even the Wii U screens with post-processing.

To be honest I'm fine with it as long as it's labelled accordingly.

I say go for it as long as you've mentioned what you've done on the post

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but PtBi applies the post-processing to the video before it's sent to the display, so those screenshots are identical to what he sees on his screen.

Nice art but the gameplay is quite disappointing... (unskippable dialogue and cut scenes, QTEs, action sequences... in an adventure game :\ not sure if I want to keep playing tbh...)

In terms of what I like about this thread, running post-processing on external hardware before sharing screens ceases to be interesting to me. When a game handles its image quality right, it's hardly even necessary at this point.

I think this is maybe my best screenshot yet:

And this is a bit spoilerish from chapter 5 (although it has been also in some trailers):
