I'll admit I picked the worst shot I could find for my first pic.

But the fact that you even think they are remotely similar baffles me.

The geometry in Bloodborne is on a completely different level compared to DMC.

The game's not going to get much kudos for it's technical prowess but comparing it to a last gen title is inane.

yea i agree with you now after doing some more comparisons, it looks so much better in motion, wtf is going on with the blur filter in screenshots though.

game looks beautiful.

Saying nothing of its gameplay as I haven't played it, but that looks decidedly last gen to me. I want to try to pick something out that sets it apart from last gen, but I can't find anything other than the CA which actually makes it looks worse.

Really digging those Valiant Hearts and TLOU shots. Halo 4 looks great too.
Valiant Hearts is turning out to be a brilliant gem of a game. The graphics are simplistic yet beautiful, the gameplay is simple but fun, and the story - oh, man, dat story. I recommend it to all PS+ subscribers.

I absolutely adore Valiant Hearts.

Unless something big comes to mind, this'll be the tail end of my Ryse stuff. I finished my Legendary playthrough last night, so aside from some multiplayer, it's shelf-bound for now. Bonus nighttime waterfall and blue-sky shots because reasons.

Loving how geometrically dense the Bloodborne environments are, awesome details. But FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK chromatic aberration.

Yup, they are like hyper detailed environments. It's the first thing that immediately makes me think it looks like a clear step up from last gen Souls games. And yup, CA is almost as ugly as it was in Lords of the Fallen. Hopefully they'll follow suit and add a toggle in a future patch. Still can't wait to play the game tonight.

Aside from it being an image-degrading element, it's so odd to me having a visual trait so commonly associated with technology in a game setting like Bloodborne.

Bloodbourne is the worst use of CA I've ever seen and hopefully the worst will see out of a AAA product for the duration of the fad. I can't even envision how you would pull off a worse implementation, just objectively God Awful.

?

AF actually looks pretty good in those, you can still make out the individual tile textures in the distance.

Safe to assume he meant AA.

Damn CA in BB =\ How noticeable is it in motion ?

But man, this last interior shot looks insane. So much detail. It's really a shame that the CA ruins much of the detail.
Still, game is looking absolutely amazing. From Soft creates atmosphere and mood like no other dev, IMO.

EDIT: Looking at the screens again..it seems like the CA is more apparent to the sides for some reason

Is there any technical reason why you would want to add CA to a game? The only reasonable (and stupid) thing I can think of is that the IQ-degrading element of the technique would somehow free up resources and improve the overall performance, but since I actually do assume CA uses some processing power, I can't think of any logical reason to include it in a game.

Someone, please enlighten me.

The most recent game that uses CA properly is Titanfall. It uses it on the displays inside a Titan when the Titan is hit or exploding.

CA can be a good thing, however it's used in the wrong spots and in the wrong amount by most devs.

Well, if the view is supposed to be through the lenses of sorts then CA makes sense. If not then it's a waste of both resources and image quality.

Alien: Isolation is a recent one that use CA quite well.

It's not a speculation. There were discussions about NHL resolution on official EA forums. EA didn't say anything. Well, some pixel counters on Beyond3d said it is 900p.

Try to compare UFC IQ and NHL IQ. Looks bloody 900p to me.

Oh I thought he was talking about Bloodborne's resolution. I was puzzled because Bloodborne, while having excellent art direction, isn't a technical marvel.
