Damnn..so photorealistic..is that vanilla?
...

Not exactly but also not that far off. I use the "less fog"-mod which has a few things edited but doesn't really change much (unfortunately CA is still in this mod and I don't know how to have this mod installed and a CA rermover :(
Inside the director mode you have the editor where you can change contrast and brightness a little which helps + several filter which help a little to make pictures a little more clear/contrasty. But the vanilla game already has excellent lighting so I don't really change much of the settings. Director mode helps with camera angle and dof (ReShade would also do the trick there but I don't use it at the momen... a little lazy lately.)

Ahhh man.... I miss PC games. I shouldn't have checked out this thread again.

God damn. One of the best shots I've seen in this thread!

Anyone happen to know if there's a timestop, free cam console command for Ryse? I can't seem to find a CE anywhere..sending an SOS to jim2point0 :D

Yeah except you didn't really do that. Not unless you were relying on me actually reading this thread :P

Lucky you I just happened to be checking it out at work. And to answer your question... no, there is nothing of the sort. The problem with CryEngine 3 is that the game uses your player model's position and orientation to decide what to draw. When you detach the camera and point it in a different direction, you'll start to see the aggressive occlusion culling the game does to save on performance. Basically, sections of the world that your character can't see are not be rendered.

I never spent much time trying to work around it because I couldnt get timestop to work.

Is anyone working on free cam mode for phantom pain? So badly need it :/

Anyone I know that would be working on such a thing has basically concluded that it's not worth it do to the drab art direction in that game. It looks impressive, but kinda dull.

I did have freecam \ timestop \ fov working in Ground Zeroes, but I don't really have time to redo it for the full game :(

That sounds pretty cool, kind of like the photo mode in The Last of Us.

A few more Ryse Son or Rome.

He's back!! Yeah I know..I read all your stuff on DET after I wrote this so I gathered it would be pretty useless to have freecam if the occlusion culling is that aggressive..and I thought Witcher 3 was bad for that. I wanted to play through Crysis 3 again but I won't bother if this is the issue with all of CryEngine games.

Thanks for getting back to me though :)

These things are huge for some reason. Can someone tell me how to format the screens so they are a bit smaller where you can zoom like everyone else's? Sorry, first post on this thread!

After recently finishing SOMA I went back to playing SS2 and this is still way scarier.

God damn. One of the best shots I've seen in this thread!
Thanks Jim, that means a lot! There really are some wildly different and impressive environments in that game to choose from. I think I enjoyed discovering what new vistas were around the next corner more than anything else about the game.

Here are a couple more I went back to after finishing the game.

It isn't at all a problem in Crysis 3. You can use a CE table to enable noclip/fly mode, combine that with a couple of console commands to disable hud and adjust fov, now you have a fully functioning freecam in the game and suffer no issues with occlusion culling.

Check K-putt's amazing album of C3 using pretty much these same tweaks.

Thanks man. Can't tell you how much I appreciate that! I really wish there was at least an FOV option for Ryse because it's stupendously gorgeous.

Face will always be face.

Jesus, UT3's art direction was SO FUCKING TERRIBLE... I remember damn near throwing that game out the window when I first got it. I hated it and went back to UT2k4.

It's funny how in their developer youtube videos, they specifically mention how bad that art style was for the type game UT is and how they are analyzing textures, lighting, etc much more critically from a visibility standpoint without having to sacrifice overall environment aesthetics.

No problem ;-) Would be nice if Crytek would unlock and give access to all the nice cvar tweaks (editor mode, fov, freecam, fly mode and insane amount of customizable graphical tweaks etc.) like back in the Crysis/Crysis 2 era, those were the days...

Yeah it's funny how this all stopped after EA bought them out..

And yeah I have to agree with Jim. That's a masterpiece in terms of atmosphere, post processing and color - and my new desktop bkgrd! Thanks One3rd.

EA hasnt bought Crytek.

CVAR lock on Crysis 3 and Ryse was stupid as fuck :(

I think that probably has more to do with online multiplayer.

Yeah, probably. I wish more games would have two executables, one for SP and one for MP.

I hate CA in every game, but I think it fit SOMA rather well. It does look pretty bad in both of his screens though.

CA belongs no where near a video game imo. Unless the game implicitly has a reason for say, playing the game through an old 90s handheld camcorder. Or viewing security cameras in Duke Nukem 3D :p

Not in the full retard form developers stupidly implement it in.(Not even the UE4 release of Ethan Carter escaped! With the Config files encrypted. The only way to disable it is to run the separate extra console enabled .exe and disable it manually each time. The developer's response to me was "We added chromatic abberation to achieve more analogue look and feel. We tried to be gentle about it.")

Only when it's part of physical lens simulation , where it's extremely subtle and varying in degrees based of several factors. Is it even remotely acceptable in my eyes.

DoF, MB, Bloom, glare, and light flares are all visible phenomena to the human eye.

CA is not.

Simply make them separate binaries. Crysis 1 still to this day has unparalleled tweakability.
I miss that.

I feel the same about onscreen effects like spider webbed glass cracks in Mad Max, or rain drops in countless games. It works in Metroid Prime due to a fps perspective through a visor, but most games use it without any real justification. I could accept it in a 3d Mario title as you're literally being followed by a camera man.

Awesome shots nonetheless!

Thanks!

how do i take pictures of the witcher 3 without any key presses showing up on screen? i have disable everything on the HUD and still cant get it right

Well... it is soma.. it actually makes sense in that game if you've played it, not putting spoilers here. So it makes sense with the context in game, and even has a big easy to switch off option for it if you can't handle it when it does happen. I HATE CA, soma is the first thing I was okay with it in. It fit.

Lost Planet 3 looks this good? Never knew that, might want to check it out.

DSR works for me if I set my desktop resolution to the resolution I want to downsample from.

I tried creating a custom resolution and setting the scaling to gpu in Nvidia control panel, but niether worked. Wouldn't accept the resolution and scaling kept reverting to display. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Not sure what you mean exactly but the only command that occasionally comes up after I've disabled the HUD is the "skip" prompt and I can't figure out why. Seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. I usually just wait until the prompt disappears after a few seconds.

Love the GTA V shots!

edit. few screens from Witcher 3/Reshade/My b/w obsession continues.

Not too sure about this shot..on one hand I like the feel but on the other hand the composition might be off..
