2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

Couple screenshot comparisons using the Witcher 3 cut scene lighting mod. I didn't do a lot though. These shots were taken immediately after loading a save file.

Looks like that weather condition is no longer working properly (WT_Mid_Clouds_Dark). So... that's not good.

Here's another comparison.

The differences are minor. In vanilla, the shadows are kinda blueish. Look at Geralt's hair.

The added ssao on foliage seems to shine a spotlight on the fact that grass is basically a bunch of small sprite clumps.

Are you using in-game sharpening set to high? Because... that looks... a wee bit too sharp I think. Also, Geralt looks like a dwarf there :P

It's set to low but it's apparent in this shot, maybe cause it's a close up. Yeah poor Gerry got squished in the corner again :-p

edit: I think irfanview added the sharpen filter when I converted it to a jpeg. Replaced with the original. Still looks like a dwarf tho.

Not sure if I mentioned this yet, but the Witcher 3 1.05 patch fixed the sun rays breaking at large resolutions. And of course I picked this tree that everyone is probably sick of seeing in order to demonstrate :P

And here's Geralt walking through a field

Nice shot, these lighting spots look pretty weird though heh

Thanks. Yeah they look like some insanely bright spot lights directed at the ground from a plane or something. They're really just parts of sunlight shining through the clouds but the way they are handled by the engine looks kinda off..

If you're using ReShade framework, then here's how to set it up.

First, in Common_settings.cfg:
Code:
#define RFX_LogDepth		1

Witcher 3 uses a logarithmic depth buffer.

Then in McFX_settings.cfg:
Code:
#define DOF_NEARBLURCURVE 1000.0
#define DOF_FARBLURCURVE 1.0
#define DOF_BLURRADIUS 50.0
#define DOF_MANUALFOCUS 1
#define DOF_MANUALFOCUSDEPTH 0.2

Basically, with this kind of depth buffer, pretend that the focus starts at the sky and that your camera is the furthest distance away. Higher depth values means you'll be blurring things closer to the camera. It's really weird.

hmmm I think it didnt work for me, I keep turning it on and off but is the same.
