2016 Console Screenshot Thread (READ RULES IN OP)

They use the same model, cutscene provides softer lighting + better self shadowing since it is a controlled environment. This has been proven with close ups of gameplay and cutscene model that have zero differences in them even when it comes to minute details such as facial hair.

In previous UC games Drake's ingame model had the exact same polycount as the cutscene model, but ofcourse cutscenes had superior lighting and shaders while also being prerendered. In case of UC4 it just seems they just use the lighting in a manner that best showcases the models.

I think what he is saying that, during gameplay, there are multiple models dependent on the distance of the camera to Nate. It would be wasteful to have the highest LoD model all the time at every distance.

Of course it would be and it is of no sense to have not multiple models which depend on distance.

As much as I'm looking forward to the game, I don't think any Uncharted 4 screens should be posted. If you can't wait a week, then too bad.

Well Drake never got LODed in previous games (in SP ofc) regardless of the distance and I doubt he would in this one. It's actually a waste to have multiple LOD of the main playable character.

Because after seeing this and this that's what I came to expect, especially after all the praise Naughty Dog constantly gets. The character model in the screenshot I commented on, looks of lower quality to me. That said, the camera angle, character positioning, the close-up shot with fire next to it, and the DoF don't help which can make the model look worse than it actually is.

Anyways that's just my observation when I scrolled past that shot, hence why I posted that I expected more. Not an attack just and observation.

Valid, but that has to do with the lighting, in the other thread there are some close up shots of Nathan's face in similar lighting as the concepts Naughty Dog showed and it's really damn close. I won't link here because I don't even think UC4 shots should be posted in here.
