Temporal supersampling is this gen's genuine secret sauce.

Sharpening is the crusty months-old sauce you failed to scrape off the hob properly.

Dat image quality on these Uncharted 4 shots...

There's basically no jaggies or aliasing in the game. If I pixel peep super hard with the screenshots I've taken (and I've taken dozens), I can see faint one's in certain very specific spots of shots, but rarely. That's how unbelievably clean the game is. Whilst playing it looks flawless, which given the sheer scale of some of the levels, coupled with the density of foliage, grass, geometry etc, is immensely impressive.

Is Uncharted 4 missing SSAO?

In almost all screenshots objects on the ground don't have shadows underneath them. It looks strange.

I'm seeing AO under there, it's just not unrealistically dark when the scene is already in shadow. Plus they are using an even more advanced version of their very fancy contact-based AO they made for TLOU.

It might be some screens' angle. Still, it looks amazing. Can't wait for my copy to ship.

UC4 has a ton of foliage, but I can't help but feel like it looks off. A bit messy maybe? Compared to something like Battlefront it looks a little bit unnatural but I can't pin it to any one thing. It still looks incredible, and I plan to pick it up once I have more free time.

Uncharted 4 looks amazing, as expected. Although, i`d like to see comparison between gameplay and photomode.

Battlefront's Endor level doesn't really have grass, though it does have a lot of general foliage and shrubbery. But UC4's could be somewhat exaggerated for artistic effect. Eg given extra volume and length, as to be more noticeable on screen and more visible to interactions, e.g. player movement, explosions etc. Then again, it could also be pretty accurate to the geographic region, who knows.

From what I've seen so far unless you're adding effects photomode and gameplay mode seems to be the same. Doesn't seem to be like Driveclub where higher fidelity assets get loaded in. Obviously my untrained eye could be totally wrong, lol.

Indeed. The AO in this game is very subtle. They are even using a dynamic contact-based AO which was just recently integrated in recent engine updates like UE4 (which got inspired by TLOU tech to implement indirect shadows in its recent versions) or with HBAO+ Ultra only in Assassin's Creed Syndicate with moving pedestrians. Look at picture 6/8 from the second batch of pictures and its description here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-uncharted-4-pushes-ps4-tech-to-the-next-level

Look how Nathan dynamically creates a temporal contact AO with his hand when he touches the citizen's back which will obviouslyfade away then disappear when he removes his hand.

For some reason I expected Uncharted 4 to look a lot better than that so that's disappointing. I guess it might be one of those games that look great on your tv but doesn't photo well.

What do you find disappointing about it? It is very clean, highly detailed, the scope is great, the models are great, the lighting is strong. Sure, the geometry detail isn't as high as modern cg, but overall it looks stronger than any currently released game in my opinion. Seems to be the general consensus as well.

It looks clean but the environments and Drakes model aren't impressive to me. I wanted to go in fresh so I haven't been watching trailers or viewing screens on it since the initial reveal so I'm thinking I just had my expectations a bit too high but either way I'm still in.

I think you will be surprised when you see the game on your own tv when you get it :)

I suppose we will find out if those opinions hold up when you play it. Well, that is if you choose to play it.

Really UC4 has great, great IQ. And somebody thought because some dithering, game is not 1080p and use some resolution reconstruction. :/s

I really like the look of the game, but for me the materials look a little off. A lot of surfaces look like they're made out of clay. Could be intentional as the game seems to be going for an oil painting look anyways.
