Mainstream music today is devoid of anything interesting and is mostly crap. The fact that it's the video of they year award is going to either Adele, Beyoncé, Drake, Justin Bieber or Kanye West speaks volumes of how generic mainstream music is today compared to MTV's first 10 years or so of promoting new and exciting music and influence on pop culture.
