2021 life goals?

New years eve is right around the corner and resolutions are lame.

Instead - let's talk about life goals? What do you plan on doing next year to achieve personal growth as opposed to this year?

Personally, as per usual, my goals are centered around lifting weights and reading more. I've flirted with this some in 2020 but got distracted by more personal familial events.

I've said it here before, but I truly believe that if reading and weightlifting are your two main hobbies that its impossible not to be an awesome person.

How about you? What are your goals for the next 365 days? How are you going to make 2021 better?

Financial— continue on the path to early retirement
Skills— continue to increase cooking & baking skills; more woodworking projects; more home improvement projects
Work— kill it again in 21 & have a plan laid out for advancement
Travel— likely southwest US, maybe an extended Europe trip if work takes me there
Health— keep exercising everyday, meditate with more frequency, yoga everyday

At some point i hope to attain a level of Japanese sufficient for me to work in my chosen industry instead of eeking out life as an untrained English teacher getting paid way too much.. i don't wanna buy any new games but complete and learn from the dozens of bona fide classics i own across multiple systems. I wanna get my dna tested to see if i have familial als, which would determine how easy/expensive it'll be for my wife and i to have kids. I wanna establish a side business selling art and design that can pay for at least one big life component, like car upkeep or something

Realistically for me: once the gyms open back in my area in a few weeks, I can see myself hitting single digit body fat. Eating healthy while in lockdown is a challenge, but I know I can go back into the habit once everything opens up.

Happy New Years Everyone! Take care.

on a serious note.
Get back in shape, I'm in my mid-30s and don't want to look like a sack of shit.
Finish writing my book, and hopefully publish it, or turn it into a series or movie script. Maybe buy a house, depending on the market.
Here's to a hopefully good year.

Happy New Years Everyone, take care of yourself and the ones around you!

thinking about it...
  • get my body fat low enough for some abs to show.
  • wanna improve my skateboarding. Finally learning 360 flips, improve my ollies so I am able to grind taller curbs, plus more control in bowls/pools.
  • get my car up and running again.
  • find some niche in my work that I feel good with, or apply for a new job.
  • spend quality time with my two sons. Spending time with my 1 year old has been one of the best experiences for me this year.

Study.
I have limited my net usage and am using it minimally for the past few days. Now I don't have the excuse of online classes too so I can avoid using internet as school is coming to an end. I have to take an insanely hard medical entrance exam in May/June (no clarity due to CoVID). There are 1000 vacancies (in good colleges) for 1.6 million students. I have to revise what I have learnt in the past 2 years and give my all into it.
Hope to get a good rank otherwise I'd become a NEET for a year and retake the exam. Coincidentally, name of the exam is NEET too.

Reading more and definitely some more time working out.

Less watching of news and social media, for mental health reasons.

Moving. Stayed in my appartment because of covid situation, this year no freakin way i have to endure that appartment i hate.

Health. Get in better shape, will try to lose 10-15 pounds, diminuish smoking by half , already start since the 24 with Ring Fit Adventure, already feeling a bit in better shape.

Vaccin: It was a no go for me all time around, and now im 60-40% i want to take it. Afe 45, i think i should take it, but still a bit scared about the future consequence.

Stop being negative. This year made me an unhappy person. This has to stop.

I've toyed with the idea of getting back into skateboarding but at my old age, it's probably not a good idea. :(

How old are you?
I am 46, and it's amazing.

I wouldn't jump off telephone booths anymore, on the other side these don't exist anymore anyway...

Younger than that but I have knee issues from injuries from skating. Like, I can't lift my left leg so the thigh is perpendicular to my hip without pain. I've been focusing a lot this last 6 months or so on building back the strength and range in both my knee and hip. Maybe if I can get that sorted I will give it a go.

I had back pain for two years now. But this year this is finally gone. Started again, had to relearn a lot. Which was a shit feeling at first.
But now I can skate the park most near my flat quite well, and have a lot of fun with it.

I mean, if you do just some transition skating and not the hard ollie down the 15 stairs set stuff, you can do a lot, even with some former injuries you had.
