Guys, I'm not sure how the flawless widescreen works. I'm trying to play Mass Effect 1 on 21:9, but I simply don't know how to set it up.



Anyone know how to fix it?

You are good as the profile is loaded and all you need to do is make sure flawless widescreen is still running when starting ME or any game it is used for(don't close the program, just minimize the window). Closing it will not activate the fixes at game launch(i.e. Clicking the X in the top right corner)

Pay close attention to the description on the right in the window. You can see Mass Effect is rife with issues and many are fixed, just make sure you load into actual gameplay to test as many fixes in the program don't effect menus in games.

Is anyone else having problems launching Rise of the Tomb Raider? I have a pretty standard setup, 4790k, 16GB RAM, SLI GF 980's, Windows 10... The only odd thing I have, and it shouldn't be odd at this point, is the LG 34UM95-P display.

I've tried turning SLI on and off to ensure that's not an issue, but it doesn't help. When I launch it says "Preparing to launch, or something like that" very briefly on screen but nothing ever happens. The game itself claims I've played 1 minute on the Steam page..

I tried loading NV Geforce Experience to see if it would let me tweak the settings from there, but it can't do so until I load the game first.

Edit: Common issue unrelated to 21:9, disregard.. Fix is item #7 on the Pinned, Rise of the Tomb Raider - Support guidelines (Steam Discussion).

Does anyone with a 3440x1440 screen run non-21:9 games in 2560x1440? Might be able to get the best of both worlds over my current monitor this way.

You could use this program called Border Stripper (http://winborderstrip.sourceforge.net/).
It does not work with all of the games, but you can strip the windows borders with it, and move the window around within the program by using the x axis, or the y axis. The only issue is that there are rare occasions in which it does not work with some games.

I may well be late to the party with this, but with Dolphin you can emulate at 21:9. 2D elements / HUD stretches, but the games themselves are glorious @ 3440x1440

I'm pretty sure I am going to have to do something about my GPU this year as a single 970 isn't enough for high/ultra in most games at 3440x1440. What would be my best option? SLI? Or wait for the big Pascal card? I'm going to need a new PSU either way. Is SLI really as bad as everyone says? Can I make it to late 2016 for the 1080Ti or whatever they call it?

If you can wait for Pascal then wait. Otherwise, a 980ti should be good. I've got a Titan X but it gets the job done at high settings 1440p, however, I downsample to 1080p, but it's still good enough. 980ti is as good as a Titan X.

As far as settings, I don't have anything for you. I use TPS (gaming mode) and just not mess with it other than lower the brightness. If you have a capable card, I suggest you downsample from 1440p. Looks REALLY GOOD. Every time I turn on GTA I keep getting amazed.

Sweet. I have a gtx 970. Battlefront. BF4, and Dirt seem to run great still all at ultra or close. Default resolution. Rise of the tomb raider took a bigger hit. I will need to play with the settings on that one. Not sure if I can run full 4K. I'll probably try though.

Yep. I bought the Dell U3415W last month and it is one of the best gaming purchases I have ever made.

I could nitpick about it not having G-sync, and that the OSD buttons are kind of difficult to activate by touch or feel, but they are such minor complaints that its hardly worth even having mentioned.

What is the current king is debatable, But I personally believe currently its this:

The Predator X34
It has GSync and goes up to 100hz at 3440x1440 IPS.


But I think the future king/s of 21:9 will be this:

A Samsung 30" and 35" @ 3440x1440 VA with 144hz with display port 1.3 (There will most likely be G-Sync and Freesync variants.)

Alternatively If you want to go crazy and money is no object Samsung are making this:

A 32:9 aspect ratio Monitor with a resolution of 3840 x1080 at 41".

I have the current va 34" samsung. It is awesome and kicks the other IPS panels collective asses. No blb/glow, x2.5 the contrast ratio, semi-gloss coating, very little ghosting and low input lag. I've tried it against the the LG 3440x1440 curved, the same panel every other curved 34" uses.
The LG has good calibration out of the box though, whereas the samsung needs to be calibrated. Going to buy the gsync variant if it comes out, though samsung has only used freesync in their monitors so far.

That was me last year, bought a 21:9 60hz because I thought I could live with it and sold my old 144hz non-gsync monitor.
Nope, couldn't deal with it ended up buying a 16:9 gsync monitor this year because gsync literally fixes everything that annoys me. I'm very sensitive to vsync input lag, judder and tearing. Using my 21:9 as a secondary monitor atm.
I'll pick up a 21:9 144hz gsync next year or so with dp1.3 though because 21:9 is just so much better.

the g-sync acer predator seems great but thats 500 bucks more than every other option. FreeSync is the open standard that Nvidia doesn't support right? So i'd get the higher refresh but not the sync stuff on the AMD acer X34?

that samsung 34 inch is awfully tempting, and I haven't actually seen gsync/144hz in action so its an "ignorance is bliss" situation on that.

i want to order one soon i just don't know which one at this point

Well the freesync version is also only 75hz, dunno why.

If it was 100hz i would just go with freesync version.

I have that same model and I love it. The 34" is super big so if you're gonna wait consider that.

I have the 29" version and I have a capable card so I downsample from 1440p to 1080p. Looks really good. Couldn't be happier.

Just got this a few days ago and love it. The jump in price for the 34 was too much for me. 29 inch was still an improvement from my old 24 inch. Widescreen gaming is just awesome.

I picked it up for $300 and it's a great monitor. I'm wanting to upgrade but not because I've had any issue with the monitor just because I want a bigger monitor and a higher resolution to go with my beefier GPU.

Colors look better than my TV, text and images are crisp at that DPI, and games that support 21:9 look great.
