This is one of the games I am buying at launch (along with PGR3, PD0 and Call of Doodie Too.....Oblivion might be in the cards as well)

yeah i want this game but what is the purpose of the grain filter is it supposed to be an option like night vision or is it a shitty capture

I hate the grainy filter.

You didn't know urban combat takes place through a news cast? It's clearly the most realistic way to do it.

[/sarcasm]

I agree. It's overdone, which is bad considering this isn't a game where it should be done at all. Aside from that, however, the game looks great.

I always dug grain filter. Reminds me of old war footage. One of the reasons I didn't mind the dithering in Starfox 64, actually.

Agreed. But why do the trees look exactly alike? Repeat models on highly detailed objects will be much more noticeable next-gen. Otherwise looks kick ass.

Aren't these clearly a photoshop job considering the filter is applied directly over an identical "screenshot" take prior to E3?

Sure the video was scripted, but the random chance of getting the exact same frame is unlikely.

Then why are they 16x9?

Because rumour has it the E3 video was completely prerendered, not in-engine, and created to 'look' like final gameplay. I can not confirm nor deny those allegations.

It isn't the exact same frame. If it were, it would actually be random since I captured that screen from the video myself..

How are the 2nd and 4th screenshot in this thread not the exact same frame? (aside from the filter applied overtop)

It's so tough to decide which Xbox 360 launch games I want to get...Perfect Dark Zero, Ghost Recon 3, Call of Duty 2, Elder Scrolls IV, whatever other games are coming...There seems to be quite a few games coming out around launch. I wish we could get official word on the launch line up.

Because they are from the X360 version :)

The PC GRAW is 4:3, has a slightly different HUD and is first person only, like so:

This is different from the Xbux Three $ixty version which, in some shots, has a noise filter (unlike the PC version which runs on GRINs "Diesel" Engine, GRAW 360 running on an all new engine called "Yeti")

And here is the Xbox1 version of GRAW :

Damn....here is a new preview of the game....it sounds awesome!!:

The first thing that we noticed, looking down on the streets below, is how bright the city looked in the glaring summer sun. Girard explained that the team was really striving to get the feel of how hot Mexico can be, deep in the city where the heat bounces between the asphalt and the buildings. To this end, high-dynamic range lighting comes into play, with brilliant light absolutely blasting off of bright surfaces.

The effect also has a bit of relevance to gameplay. If you step into shadows, your in-game eyes adjust after a moment to the dimmer light. Then, while standing in the shadows, if you turn around and look out across a sunlit plaza, the light is absolutely intense -- sometimes obscuring figures in the distance. Some may think the effect is overdone but it definitely gave Advanced Warfighter a style of its own.

You fight from a first-person view, but with a whole new level of control. You can dive into prone position, or do a backslide (basically sliding on your butt into a crouch position) during which you can keep your guns forward and firing. You also have complete control over leaning: you can press a key to start leaning, and then instead of just being able to lean left and right, you can also lean up or down. In this way, you can take advantage of all kinds of cover, such as hiding behind the hood of a car and occasionally popping up to fire, or hiding behind the wheel of a truck and leaning down to rip a few shots off.

Speaking of cars, destroying one gave us a good chance to see how interactive the environments are. You could shoot out all the windows individually (glass shatters and spills), shoot the tires, knock the wheels from the rim, open the doors to hide behind them, blow the doors off, blow the hood off... and basically reduce a luxury car to a smoldering heap in a minute or so. Pop a cap in a parking meter and coins spill out, using real physics so that they clatter off of nearby cars.

Sounds fucking wicked!!!

The game looked great during the E3 demo, but it reminds me of one of those games that gives the illusion of "freedom", but you are stuck in a set of predetermined scenes. I hate being manipulated like that. It worked in a game like HL2 .. but pissed me off in a game like Brothers in Arms.

Wierd.. what are the differences between the two besides noise filter?

Everything. They are totally different games, much like the PS2 and Xbox versions for GR2 were completely different. 2 different dev teams, the whole 9 yards.

looks great, but I wonder, how many of you would actually buy this if it wasn't a launch title?

I don't know about any of you, but I have the bad habit of buying a game just because it's a launch game... when I usually would have no intention of buying it if it was a second gen or middle-of-the-generation game.

I am a huge Ghost Recon fan so I would be buying this next gen launch title or not.

The gameplay and interactivity of this game sounds awesome....cross com and online co-op? Luv it.....

I just love everything I have heard about this game sofar....

Also did you notice in the preview they talked about how the game simulates how your eye adjusts to shadow and light??

SOCOM2 on PS2 did this too, but this implementation will encorporate HDR and sounds SOOOO much cooler...

I'm still praying that those green and red outlines around NPC's are JUST FOR SHOW. Nothing could ruin such an immersive game more than a goofy fucking outline to let me know if they're friendly or not.

The GR series is one of the higher selling series on the Xbox, with the original version selling over 1 million copies (I believe).

Where did all the shadows from trees and leafs go ? :(

Anyone else finding it hard to justify buying a $400 new console to play a $50 game with a ton of filtering effects designed to make it look LESS detailed and realistic?

I do.
