iphone 5 won't be 3d, iphone 6? maybe, but considering how slow is apple at getting up on par spec-wise with the competitors, it could very well be the iphone 7 (2013).

It was
shown before the 3DS, instead of vertical lines to block the light, it uses a grid pattern LCD layer to switch between horizontal and vertical lines.

The 3DS uses an LCD too but yeah, it's a much simpler design of such.

It's unlikely apple would ever implement 3D... it would add an extra mechanism to the device, impact battery life, not work the same for everyone. And for what? They are doing just fine without 3D
