Granted, I only walked past them on my way to the subway, but still, it's strange that it only registered 5. The whole Street Pass tech seems very finicky... I should have stopped for a few minutes, but my wife was in a hurry in the rain.
Unless you're online, then yes they do.artwalknoon said:2. Those 3ds's could have been running games at the time and some/most games don't streetpass while software is active.

A Link to the Snitch said:So if I'm playing White offline, I can get StreetPasses?
TehOh said:DS games - no (so, no streetpass while plaing White).
3DS games - yes
All 3DS capabilities are not present in DS mode (can't change brightness etc.) - probably has something to do with piracy or the way the emulation works or both.A Link to the Snitch said:Well, if Nintendo absolutely wanted to demonstrate their lack of forethought, they totally did.
I don't want to have to exit out of Pokémon every time I want to get ready for StreetPass. I pray that Nintendo will somehow release an update that will let players go back and forth from the 3DS menu to DS games.
Meh.

Never tried that. How did they handle it?A Link to the Snitch said:Well, I guess it's better than how they handled GBA multi-player on the DS.

TBH it's probably the same exact way they handled it, we just got lucky this time because the 3DS already has the hardware needed for DS multiplayer, DS on the other hand didn't have a GBA link port. Basically when you boot a DS game the 3DS thinks it's a DS until you push the home button. Same thing DS did with GBA except this time you don't have to power off to get back to the firmware.A Link to the Snitch said:Well, I guess it's better than how they handled GBA multi-player on the DS.

Also, one of the people I tagged also counted as a tag for Nintendogs so that was a nice little bonus (1st tag for any game so far)
Oh.A Link to the Snitch said:Not at all - they just made GBA games single player only on GBA. :v
You can apparently change dates and give your 3DS a shake to rack up coins. Never tried this but if you are desperate.BooJoh said:I've only had my 3DS for a couple days and I haven't had the chance to get any StreePass hits, but I've been using all my Play Coins each day to hire dogs for Find Mii and I just love the charm it has. I really wish I could play it more often.
artwalknoon said:What do you get from streetpass in Nintendogs? I haven't gotten any for that title yet, only a bunch of SSF4 hits.
lazybones18 said:If you get a Nintendogs tag, just go to the journal and you'll see a gift icon. Touch it and a dog's face will be revealed. You'll get a present from the person you tagged (either a treat/food or accessory item) along with an accompanying photo w/message (if the other person included those things) The dog's face that shown in the journal might be depend on which dog is shown in the photo, but I'm not sure (might just be based on which dog was owned first)
Also, since you tagged another Nintendog owner, you can meet that same person in the park and have your dog and their dog interact with each other. If the person you tagged owns more than one dog, you can decide which dog you want to interact with in the park. Person I tagged today owns two dogs, so I only interacted with one dog at the park, before repeating the same stuff with the other dog.

lolwut? You can change brightness/power saving mode while playing DS games.Phife Dawg said:All 3DS capabilities are not present in DS mode (can't change brightness etc.) - probably has something to do with piracy or the way the emulation works or both.
Really? My bad then. I remembered I wanted to do just that but it wouldn't work.MooMoo said:lolwut? You can change brightness/power saving mode while playing DS games.
Also gameplay time/steps still count, but only up to 7 days. It's just the suspend/spotpass/streetpass that doesn't work.
Yup! Press home. Then press start+up/down to change brightness. left/right toggles power saver =)Phife Dawg said:Really? My bad then. I remembered I wanted to do just that but it wouldn't work.
Oh cool, thanks. One of these days I should actually read the manual I guess.MooMoo said:Yup! Press home. Then press start+up/down to change brightness. left/right toggles power saver =)

It's so annoying to pass by hundreds of people every day and not see that green light when I get home. Why don't people in Boston play handhelds, gosh darn it?!
