3DS Update Now Available: Adds Miiverse, L+R to activate camera, etc

I feel the Miiverse is a point I may have missed. I don't understand its appeal. At least it's not bog slow.

1. Stuck in a game? Ask on Miiverse. You can even post a screenshot to better illustrate your problem. Useful because you can ask, go back and try, and if still stuck return to Miiverse and see the responses. People can leave hints or give the full solution and mark it as a Spoiler so you know to only read it if you're truly stuck. I prefer this to reading the solution online or watching a YouTube vid because I can get the partial solution if I want.

2. Discuss the games you enjoy with other gamers. Share moments you enjoy, right there and then while in the game. Did something amazing or cool? Post about it with a screenshot. Got a high-score? Post the screenshot and challenge people to beat it.

3. Follow devs and get more info about the games they made. Announcements about upcoming games and features are often made on Miiverse by devs (especially Indie devs and of course people like Sakurai).

4. Check out Communities for games you don't own but are interested in to see what the general user opinion is. Are people enjoying the game? Or do they seem down on it for some reason?

These are just some things about Miiverse that I like. There are lots of other interesting things especially when you take into consideration the games that have Miiverse functionality specifically built-in to the software. Then you get unique things like recording voice clips and leaving them in the game world in Deus Ex for friends to find and listen to, or Miiverse Accomplishments/Achievements like in Batman Origins where a screenshot is automatically posted when you unlock one.

since this thread is active ill ask here. if I buy the bundle with dream team pre-installed, never set up the wifi (thus never access the eshop), and do a system format is the preinstalled game gone for good?

the great thing about miiverse is that it really moves. tons of yeahs and comments going around as soon as you post

hope it doesn't die out

I wanted to post a screenshot of my shiny gengar. :(

I'm surprised at how many girls are playing Bravery Default, maybe all this talk about girls do actually play games is true.

I can't connect to the eShop. I also can't update Mii Plaza.

What's wrong? ;_;

Pro-tip: add the Nintendo server status page to your favourites.

Not sure if I understand you correctly but there is an option to add comments on other people's posts, unless you are restricted by Parental Controls or they have restricted it (very few people do).

Hmm...guess I missed it. I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out what each of the icons do. They give you walls of text regarding behavior, but they don't walk you through the basics, really.

Quick google, on MH3 screenshots, says:

If I recall correctly, one of the reasons for this not being in the game is that it's a game with a heavy focus on multiplayer, and whenever you're online or connected to a 3DS locally, the HOME button becomes unavailable.

No chance of that. It's been on a "nearly dead" console for a year now and it's still really active. Opening up to the 3DS owners is just insane in terms of how many extra users it gets.

I though with this update we wouldn't need FC's anymore. I tried to add friends from Miiverse last night and was unable to do so. Am I missing something?

That's down to the developers not Miiverse. This is also a problem on the Wii U.

What ever the reason, I just hope that all future games support screenshots and that Pokemon XY gets updated to support screenshots. Really the whole screenshot function should be done on an OS level, then we wouldn't have this problem.

I'm hearing things about data tied to Miis being deleted when one selects which Mii to choose (3DS' or Wii U's). Would it be best to make a temporary throw away Mii on the Wii U and change your NNID profile to use that. Then when you link accounts select to replace it with your 3DS one. In theory the Mii that save data is tied to should be safe since it isn't currently tied to the Wii U NNID.

Question:

I have a NNID on the Wii U at my parent's house.

I am getting a new Wii U for my apartment on Christmas.

Can I link the same NNID to both Wii U systems or is it just ONE 3DS and ONE WiiU per NNID?

If it's one and one, I'll just create a new one on my 3DS and have my Wii U link to that on Christmas.

Any way to show just English posts? I'm sure all these Japanese chaps have fascinating things to say about Pokemon, but...

Nope. For some reason, a few Communities are Worldwide which means you're going to get all kinds of languages in there. I was surprised to see that they did this with Pokemon....

That's still a stupid excuse from CAPCOM. Mario Kart 7 supports screenshots.

Touch your Mii tab → Settings/Other → Miiverse settings → 2nd setting

....Ignore me then!

3DS games will still need friend codes, at least legacy ones. Going forward though? These NintendoID's are likely to take over... But I wouldn't expect that to happen with this handheld.

You can only link it to one.

You'll have to do a system transfer from the Wii U at your parents' house to your new one, and then link it to that console.

I live in the Netherlands, but I imported a US 3DS XL last year (I had an EU 3DS, but Fire Emblem/SMT/VLR delays bummed me out). I've never had trouble using the US eShop or US Club Nintendo. I haven't made a NNID yet.

Is there anything I should look out for? Or can I just continue pretending to be an American without consequences?

I assume if you either don't link to a Wii U or link to a US Wii U you should be fine, but I am not sure.

So I have made a NNID, but whatever happens if my 3DS dies? Does everything I own disappear? If so then what's the meaning with NNID?

Don't know if it's been posted, from Marty:

“Hello again! There has also been a small update to the Wii U and web versions of Miiverse. The Report Spoilers function has now been merged with the Report Violation function. From now on, when you wish to report spoilers, please first select the "Report Violation" icon, then select "Spoiler" from the drop-down menu.”

It is done on an OS level, but developers can disable the feature if they don't want screenshots to be posted. Same thing on Wii U, PS4 and XBO.

You will get your stuff back since it is tied to your NNID. Since you can´t do a system transfer with a broken or nonexistend 3DS you have to contact Big N for this.

Regarding screenshots in MH3U:

I'm beginning to realize that the ability to take a screen shot is a setting on the Miiverse community and not something hard coded into the game. I really hope this can be added for the 3DS version, because I can see stills in the Notes app. People really need to know how swag my great sword set is.
