3DS vs PSP in 2022

Gay porn is where it's at.
Suddenly, I wanna own one of these consoles, both have a massive library of games I want to play, but I have the time only for one console
Which one do you think I should get

Both are great, but I'm partial to the PSP. It has a better library imo.

Though I'm not sure how easy or cheap it is to get its games these days.

PSP

if you said DS it would have been a harder choice. 3DS is a good portable but not as great as PSP and DS

3DS. Plays DS games too. The combo of DS and 3DS libraries on one system absolutely dwarfs PSP. It's not even close.

Also the "new" Nintendo 3DS is such a premium feeling product. They're expensive now but I absolutely love it. You can get the 2DS one much cheaper, but it also feels like it.

But why? With a 3DS he could play whatever DS game he wants, no?

Anyway, it should be 3DS vs Vita. And the answer is both.

Forgot about the Backward Compatibility that 3DS has. Yeah I recommend getting the New 2DS XL. That's the best version I have

Depends on the games you want to play really since DS and PSP have a very different game selection.

Probably 3DS.
Personally I like the native 3DS library more with some really nice games like Kid Icarus Uprising, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Fire Emblem Awakening, a Link Between Worlds, etc which you can't get anywhere else right now (well except emulated on PC). And then you add the NDS library which is great too.

I'm not that big on the PSP library outside of a couple of games like War of the Lions. But from what I remember it's a pretty neat portable Ps1 emulator, and I think GBA games ran pretty nicely too.

Love my 3DS. I still only have that cramp-inducing V1 model but even so it's got way more great games on it than I will ever have time to see - and I am always gonna be a sucker for the 3D gimmick, naysayers can kiss mah grits. I'll never knock PSP (always seemed like a premium product as well) but just not for me - looks like it has plenty of great games as well. These are the good kinds of problems to have, I guess..

Maybe pivot to the DS Lite? You can get them super cheap, and then you get GBA + DS, instead of DS + 3DS. Both are great but I think I'd rather have access to the GBA Library.

People keep citing DS backwards compatibility but forget to mention that PSP can play PS1 games.

Only if you're home brewing though right? If we're going to let that into the conversation then the hardware doesn't matter you can just play anything on anything.

PSP.

I probably spent like a thousand or two just on Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus and Dissidia alone. Plus is has a ton more SRW games than DS/3DS. Also has the sequels for SRW Z.

A Vita would be preferable though since it's just an improved PSP with BC and homebrew/Jailbreak.

Well, considering PSN on PSP is dead, nearly everything you do on PSP will have to be by homebrew unless you hunt for UMDs.

Also going to say 3DS. Great library of games that includes DS games.

If we're going there: that also means the 3DS can play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, NES, and Super Nintendo games...

It goes more for your taste

PSP: Has lots of western and japanese support, racing games and some shooters too, it can also run PS1 games.

3DS: Better JRPG library, but western support is non existent at all, but the japanese support is great, it can also run DS games.

PS Vita if you can get your hands on a good one, it runs PSP, PS1 and vita games, if you jailbreak you will have a lot of options in emulation.

PSP can do that too (not as perfectly though). So it really boils down to DS + 3DS vs PS1 + PSP.

I like the games on the PSP, but I never liked the form of it. Damn thing never felt comfortable in my hands. Based on that I would recommend a 2DS XL over anything else.

PSP Go is a neat little handheld if you value portability and are willing to mod. The 3DS has more games I still want to play in 22. As someone with both I use the 3DS a lot more and it's also my goto for trips.

3DS for the combined library, plus the 3D screen (still amazes me that there are so many people who don't like 3d gaming... completely changes the experience of a handheld on the games that use it well), plus the easy path to jailbreaking / homebrew, where you can play anything from Nintendo's entire handheld backlog beautifully.

I'm using my 3DS right now to play the GBC game Pokemon Trading Card Game 2 (fan translated, sequel never released outside Japan), and it's particularly nice with the subtle 3D depth effect of the simulated GBC front / screen.

I love PSP, but you can emulate PSP on a lot of modern portables (including Steam Deck or an Ayn Odin) with enhancements and mostly correct speed. Also Sony pulled down the PSP shop so there's little reason to stay legit.

Whereas the shape of 3DS is unique and especially if you get an original 3D 3DS or a New 3DS, there's nothing like it (although if you're like a lot of people, the 3D slider will go off sooner than you expect.)

Good library on both, I personally think you can't go wrong.

If 3DS didn't launch in basically beta state, more people would have owned one and would admit its library is crazy.
I still have so much I could play on my 3DS, it could last me a couple of years with my current game time.

PSP

I never had a 3ds, but games like gta city stories, pursuit force, virtua tennis, tekken tag, seem better to me.

3DS for sure. I never found the psp library compelling and the 3DS ended up being my favorite handheld of all time.

3DS ... no brainer. Library and load times.

I vote for a modded Vita to give you access to the full PSP library. That gives you PS1, PSP, and Vita access which are a ton of great games. The Vita is the ultimate PSP with a great screen and the additional stick that you can customize changes how many games play. So long claw grip.

The 3DS is fine and has good games on it. But I don't really recommend playing DS games on it. Sure you can, but the screen it's not a native scale like the Vita that's 2x the PSP resolution. For DS games I recommend a DSi or DSi XL for the best screens, and they are moddable without a flash cart. You can also play GBA games on it as well.
