But why? With a 3DS he could play whatever DS game he wants, no?PSP
if you said DS it would have been a harder choice. 3DS is a good portable but not as great as PSP and DS

Anyway, it should be 3DS vs Vita. And the answer is both.
3DS. Plays DS games too. The combo of DS and 3DS libraries on one system absolutely dwarfs PSP. It's not even close.
Also the "new" Nintendo 3DS is such a premium feeling product. They're expensive now but I absolutely love it. You can get the 2DS one much cheaper, but it also feels like it.
3DS have oficial gba virtual console and it works great thoMaybe pivot to the DS Lite? You can get them super cheap, and then you get GBA + DS, instead of DS + 3DS. Both are great but I think I'd rather have access to the GBA Library

People keep citing DS backwards compatibility but forget to mention that PSP can play PS1 games.
Well, considering PSN on PSP is dead, nearly everything you do on PSP will have to be by homebrew unless you hunt for UMDs.Only if you're home brewing though right? If we're going to let that into the conversation then the hardware doesn't matter you can just play anything on anything.
If we're going there: that also means the 3DS can play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, NES, and Super Nintendo games...People keep citing DS backwards compatibility but forget to mention that PSP can play PS1 games.
PSP can do that too (not as perfectly though). So it really boils down to DS + 3DS vs PS1 + PSP.Also going to say 3DS. Great library of games that includes DS games.

Not legally though, if OP cares about that...PSP can do that too (not as perfectly though). So it really boils down to DS + 3DS vs PS1 + PSP.
Between Monster Hunter, Toukiden and God Eater, PSP has more hunting game variety. And if we're stretching what counts in the genre PSP has Phantasy Star Portable too.3ds Has Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, so there's no beating that.
Yeah, PSP loses easily if that's the case since PSN is offline. Not legally though, if OP cares about that...
Its compatible with psp in digital gamesIsn't vita backwards compatibile with psp? I'd go that route with an OLED screen
