I got RE: Revelations just because of the awesome size/immersion of the XL. I put the options on "High 3D Depth" and the game is insanely gorgeous! I feel like I'm falling into the screen, the 3D depth effect is so impressively done.

.

I'm 3 hours in and it's fantastic. I'm glad I waited to get it, this game was made for the XL.

I noticed some faint scratches on the top screen of my silver XL today when applying my Hori protectors. I'd only intended to use the protector on the touch screen, but upon closer inspection the top screen has the small dimples that form a line caused by the surround of the touch screen. I've put a protector on the top screen as well now.

This is becoming an epidemic. I need to start checking mine to make sure it doesn't get that.

New 3DS owner. Psyched to be. :D

If I can only buy one: NSMB 2 or Super Mario 3D?

3D Land and it's nowhere near close.

(I posted this in the other 3DS thread, but I figure I post it here as well)

Some good deals for the 3DS next week...

Best Buy: Buy 2 get 1 free on ALL 3DS games.

SHIT if this was last week that would have been great. I can't think of 3 3DS games I want :(

I generally don't like Resident Evil games but Revelations is fast becoming one of my favorite handheld games ever. I'm about 3 hours in as well and I'm really enjoying it. RE or 3D Land? Tough call. It's close.

I'm liking the 3DS XL a lot, but there area few minor things I wish they had done to the interface.

1.) On the DSi, tapping the power button brings you back to the home screen. I used this quite a bit. Now it just puts it into sleep mode.

2.) WHY CAN'T I USE BUTTONS IN THE SETTINGS MENU? Ugh, it's so annoying to be forced to use the stylus just for the hell of it. It's like this in the eShop too.

There's, umm... a 'Home' button that does this, you know.

this feels perfect, but getting it wrong the first time every time is getting old.... Thankfully that pixel wasn't dead it was just something I had to rub off with one of the cloths..... 3d land looks amazing... didn't get a new game I'm thinking about Kid Icarus..... not sure... need fucking majora's Mask 3d.....now.

Kid Icarus. Do it, man, it's amazing.

If you love 2D Mario, NSMB2. If you don't or are only lukewarm on it, then SM3D Land. I prefer NSMB2 by a large margin, but people seem really taken with 3D Land.
My opinion

I love 3D Land, but I love NSMB2 more. Which is odd, as I usually prefer 3D Marios. :/

For that BB deal when it says buy 2 get ANY 3rd game free is it only ANY of the games on that small list or literally any 3DS game they have in stock?

Got my Hori screen protectors today. Went on very easily! I'm usually terrible at putting these things on.

Impossible to tell, but that's a Big Lebowski poster being reflected in the top screen. ;)

I have scoffed at 3D for years but despite the small sweet spot needed while playing on my XL, I really have dug the effect for Super Mario 3D Land. I really like the game too, though the levels are waaaaay too short. The tracker in the Home menu says I have put 4 hours into it though, which seems a bit high, though I'm almost at the end of world 7. It has only just started to offer me slightly challenging stages, though they are still easy as pie.

Really good game, find myself having a ton of fun with it. This long weekend I might try to do as much as I can with it on a second play through and trade it in towards NSMB2 just because my son will be able to play that one more. He isn't great with the 3D movement in games and is better with 2D platformers...though he's only 3 years old. :)

My battery started to die on me during my play session this afternoon which pissed me off. Battery life seems terrible but I had heard that going in. I just charged it yesterday and didn't really touch it until tonight. Oh well.

3DS XL would really be a perfect machine with that second control nub, better speakers and DS games that didn't look crappy when played full screen. So close, but I guess there are always the 20 other hardware revisions they can attempt. :)

believe me, you'll be playing SM3DL for a lot more than you think :p

Don't worry, there is plenty of challenge involved in 100%'ing the game. I rarely 100% games, didn't even do it for Galaxy 1 and 2 which I adored but there's just something about 3D Land.

Though I see you might trade it in for the inferior NSMB2... oh well, it seems to be for a good cause!

Oh man, I'm so goddamn tempted to get an XL, what with the Kmart deal next week. Only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is the possibility of a limited edition/holiday bundle. Push me over the edge y'all!

I just heard about the Kmart deal. Buy a 3DS XL and get $45 in coupons, which is pretty awesome. Then I realized I would be paying around $21.5 in taxes, which makes the deal worth only ~$23.5. Hmm... Decisions, decisions.

In terms of pure value, the k-mart deal should cover any possible game bundle that would be out for the holiday. All I can say is that the thing is a bundle of joy and my new best friend.

Coupons for what? Also, do the coupons deduct before tax on the purchases they are used for (unlike gift cards)?

It's a gaming coupon. So when you get it, you can only use it on a gaming item that is the value of the coupon PRETAX. So, in this case, a 39.99 game would need another gaming item to push it over $40.

Yeah, this. I think I'll just wait for Black Friday to see if I can get a better deal.

About a week in, finished Super Mario 3D land. Awesome stuff. Probably my favourite 2D-style Mario (ie non Mario 64).

I'm LOVING my 3DS.

The 3D is surprisingly more than a gimmick. It can add some real gameplay enhancements, but even 3D land was nothing compared to Ocarina. This game shines in 3D. It really does add another level of immersion.

Same goes with Star Fox. I just wasn't expecting 3D to add this much to a game.

All the other little extras surrounding the system are really nice advancements on the general nintendo handheld.

At first I thought, "meh." regarding GB VC, but seeing all those titles brings back memories, and I just wanna purchase them. I possibly will one day.

Anyway, I just adore this thing.

So is it possible to get replacement covers for the 3DS? I can see it getting scratched up and it would be nice to have the option down the line.

Just got my XL cradle. Sure, it is a pretty flimsy bit of plastic in your hands, but my XL looks great sat in it. It is also much easier to drop it in and out than the original cradle. You don't have to fit it "in" so much as just "on".

I'm seriously considering getting a 3DS XL at this point, and I've already found a good deal near me, so the only pending questions I have before I splurge are:

How's the viewing angles for 2D mode compared to the original 3DS, and especially the original DSi? I still wonder how they'd got screens that good in the first place on the DSi. Coming from the DSi, the 3DS's screens were a total disappointment, if not for its surprisingly good visibility under sunlight.

Do Singaporean models ship with adapters? If so, is it three-pin?
