$450 would made the Xbox 37.5 dollars per tflops which is even better than the $400 ps5s 40 dollars per tflops ratio.

They could absolutely do that + kill the Gold requirement. However, they need to do something much more drastic to have a fighting chance.

A $50 to $100 gap just won't make as big of a splash as a gap of $200. If they want to guarantee second place next-gen, they need to price the Series S at $199.99 and Series X at $299.99. To put that differently, they need to recreate the Xbox 360 generation gap in price.

It makes sense and would prove that trying to hide the price so long for Sony and Microsoft was a ridiculous move. The company that wanted the cheaper console had enough would make sure that was the case.

The $50 drop in price would be a game changer for XSS. $249 for a brand new, next generation console is almost unheard of.

MS doesn't need to lower their prices. They've got the more powerful box for the money, and a lower priced, entry level alternative. Their strategy for pricing/hardware is fine. Making the machine $449 would just be a weird desperation move.

Yeah I don't think they would drop the price on the Series X, it's already a fantastic deal at the same price as the weaker PS5. Maybe (and that's a BIG maybe) they'd drop the XSS to $249 to stomp on the PS5DE.

As much as everyone says they don't care how many they sell, thats just silly, we know and they know they need to sell millions to sell more game pass and regular software.
