But the PS5 event still doesn't have a new date...
Why is Sony so reluctant to give us a new date?
Because this could suggest a devious marketing strategy.

And if Sony does not say anything about it, or even postponing the video already concluded of the presentation of PS5 until even July, then I will have confirmation.

If we are going with Bloomberg rumors its only a few dollars more expensive. Which is why I don't think it's the cooling thats increasing the costs.

I personally believe it's the I/O system more than anything.

seems fair. MS' war chest is just too big. They could easily take a loss at selling the console and get that back with subscription and services.

They didn't do that with the Xbox One because there are limits to how much they will lower the price.

Apparently they've never heard of crisis management. Everyone else gave a date and Sony after 5 days, the message is still "soon".

Because, even with the all respect that you have to offered to this particular situation, this same situation can't be used as excuse to totally stop an entire industries.
(because, if we actually act like this, the entire videogames industries should be stopped even for the Covid19 problem, until the end of the epidemy)

Feel like it is up to the protesters at this point. If this weekend is a shitshow and next week starts off the same way then they are likely to keep delaying.

The initial delay mostly seemed to be a consequence of bad timing. Hopefully people get the virtue signaling out of their systems and the world can get back to normal

I repeat my original point. If studios like Ninja Theory and Obsidian are mid tier then 95% of Sony's Studios are mid tier. Period.

When I made that comment I was considering those studios on their own merits. Neither is a proven AAA studio.

Ninja Theory have been, up until now, an independent studio They've made some games with decent production values and had some level of critical acclaim, and the only time they've been near AAA territory was with someone else's ip (DmC). I think they will become a very capable studio, but they're just not there yet.

Its a similar story with Obsidian. They've done some good work, especially last gen with Bethesda ip, but they're not a polished AAA studio. They've succeeded in the last 8 or so years (since being fucked over by Bethesda) by producing reasonably selling games on a modest budget. Pillars of Eternity was a kickstarter project ffs.

Xbox Games Studios have definitely acquired a couple of very high potential studios here, and with investment over the generation the results could be exceptional. But they're not there yet.

I didn't make a comparison to Sony studios, but you did and in doing so you're just making yourself look a bit silly. SIE have 13 studios, so by your reckoning 95% i.e. 12 of 13 are mid tier. That's just a terrible hot take, there's at least 7 or 8 top tier studios there, 5 of them have produced games that have sold over 8 million this gen.

This can't be restated enough. Xbox has had one acquisition - Mojang - that was big enough to require the price to be disclosed, $2bn. In 2018 they made half a dozen studio acquisitions but the only M&A activity that had the price disclosed was GitHub at $7.5 billion. Tbh I'd be surprised if the total of those acquisitions added up to the $400m they were believed to have paid for Glint.

Point being that Xbox investments are REALLY modest in Microsoft terms.

Just from a common sense POV I somehow doubt Sony would've been keen to have the first reveal of PS5 gameplay be something that blows their own games out of the water.

Btw I don't mean ore impressive in every particular. The demo might well retain greater fidelity, but the overall dynamism of the scenes Sony will show will end up looking more impressive.

They have pretty good marketing team specialised in delays , I wouldn't be surprised if the event delayed to August, or September

If you've worked in marketing you'd know that they will NOT wait that long - I guarantee it.

There's always a schedule/plan that stays in place even if a small delay occurs, everything either shifts or they adjust but waiting until August is too long, they won't be able to communicate everything if they start in August and they want healthy pre-order numbers. New age marketing is quick and fast paced messaging, hence why 3 hour conferences have been fading away.
