Anyone have any idea when Amadeus will come out in uhd bluray? Its the only thing im left looking for, everything i wanted in 4k has come out, abyss, robocop 2 (this june), only thing left for me is amadeus and minus some tv shows in bluray is tales from the crypt and old tv shows like all in the family and threes company. Why is Amadeus not out yet? you would think for such a movie that 4k would be out by now. Amadeus is one of those movies where if it comes out in 4k, I will spare no expense on whatever flashy version of 4k they have.

googling 4k and amadeus this comes up: https://www.academymuseum.org/en/programs/detail/amadeus-018cfa80-ab0b-9c4e-9e6c-08e3b63fa8ce

I saw this technical analysis of Aliens 4K on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/s/ZU8GkkZlKR

He says its only an upscale and doesn't have real HDR.
I recently watched Alien and Aliens back to back. Aliens, like True Lies, feels like the screen disappears and you're looking through an open window. It's startingly realistic, especially right after a grainy movie.
The DNR is barely noticeable in motion. The lighting and colours are superb - the sunset after the crash never looked better.
It's not all about nits and how it looks in static shots.

Just picked these up in 4K. They come in really nice boxes covered with cloth and 60+ page booklets. Midsommar's booklet is full of rigid cocks, so that would be going straight on the top shelf, except it's much taller than a normal DVD case and won't actually fit.

Picture quality seems great. There are zero extras on the Midsommar disc, but the Talking Heads one has loads of stuff.

I'd say it's a worthy upgrade. Certainly the best it's ever going to look.
I bought the 4K edition, UK version - last copy left in the shop. The packaging is actually a big downgrade compared to the old US Criterion DVD edition I've got. The DVD has a double gatefold, with the booklet and poster inserted alongside, instead of a single wide insert with the discs stacked on top of each other.

The paper stock in the DVD's booklet is much, much nicer (textured, not glossy) and the 4K one has been cropped at the top and bottom so the text is the same size but the page layout is more cramped. Bizarrely, the 4K copy's poster is slightly larger, but only because it has extra white space around the edge (and is also printed on glossy stock). The DVD's outer cover is thicker and feels more expensive.

You'd think if it's the ultimate edition, they'd treat the packaging with a little more respect. I might just swap the discs over (but the ones in the DVD box are designed to fit with the design on the background).

A YouTuber shed light on what may have happened with Cameron’s 4Ks. He didn’t have the time.

Well thanks for that post.

I wasn't aware how bad these upscales were. They have not been in stock on amazon, so that saved me from wasting the money. I can only hope they can do a better version. I swear I saw some videos praising these new editions. But having that video show the differences really shines that light on the problem.

Titanic looked good and I can recommend that one but the others are probably only worth it as bargain bin discs at best. However, like the video says, this is probably the final format and we shouldn’t normalize these type of techniques by buying the disks.

Aliens 4k looks 95 great to me. I've seen that movie a hundred times prior to 4k and there is only a handful of shots that the 4k looked a little strange to me. I'd say it's a great upgrade from blu. Imo

Just finished watching The Terminator 4K. It’s one of Cameron‘s better 4Ks for sure. I was able to just enjoy the movie for the most part and even started off extremely impressed. I only got distracted a couple times by the processed look.

Hopefully he'll perform the same magic for Terminator 2 Judgment Day and of course include the highly popular extended cuts this time.

Purchased Columbia Classics 4K Vol. 4 for $89 and Anchorman 4K for $15 on Amazon. The sales are a little disappointing this year, especially without Best Buy as competition when they had 4K’s on sale for $5-$10.

Willow is coming to 4k next week. That's a big childhood favorite. Just need Ridley Scott's Legend now and I think I'll have pretty much all of my childhood favorites on 4k
I've pre-ordered the Willow 4k uhd steelbook.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is preparing a 4K Blu-ray release of Milos Forman's Amadeus (1984), starring Tom Hulce, F. Murray Abraham, Elizabeth Berridge, Roy Dotrice, and Simon Callow. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on February 25.

Description: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Hulce) is a remarkably talented young Viennese composer who unwittingly finds a fierce rival in the disciplined and determined Antonio Salieri (Abraham). Resenting Mozart for both his hedonistic lifestyle and his undeniable talent, the highly religious Salieri is gradually consumed by his jealousy and becomes obsessed with Mozart's downfall, leading to a devious scheme that has dire consequences for both men.

Anybody else pick up the Seinfeld 4k set? Sony went back and scanned the 35mm film and it's in it's original full screen aspect ratio unlike Netflix and on Blu-Ray.

It looks great. Not cheap though. Around $195 at the lowest.

So you’re saying the 4K set is the way to go as opposed to the Blu-Ray (since it seems like you’re saying the BR set messes up the aspect ratio, my bad if I’m misunderstanding), right?

Yeah. The 4k set is the original full screen, but the bluray is widescreen. It's the bad kind of widescreen too where it's just cropped.
