Counting a manga with 11 volumes totalling over 2000 pages as two books seems fair to me, but it still doesn't feel right. What do you guys think about how you should count comics?
That's the million dollar question. The "official" answer is yes, but it's about using your best judgment. Trade paperback volumes don't work on a one-to-one ratio since you tear through them much faster.
How long did it take you to read through the volumes? I'd go with that over page count, since I can tear through hundreds of comic pages in a fraction of the time it takes to cover the same number of text pages. If they took you the same time it would to read two books, roll with that.
It's fantastic to see this thread thriving with activity, but sadly that has a downside. It makes the update progress for me a bit slow and clumsy if you post a new update for every movie.
If I haven't updated the OP with you latest addition yet, please just update your old post. That way, I won't have to update the same poster half a dozen times for the same OP update.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't discuss or post updates on your progress in new posts, just don't use the update format, when you do so. I can just skim over these posts and the discussion can still go on.
UPDATE
EDIT: New format is no fun, it's nice to post a new list every time to possibly spark discussion. :-(
Ew, I've literally never seen my name misspelled like that in all my 30+ years, OP. So gross.
So glad I'm not running this thread! I stressed over dropping the ball on it all year!
Don't forget to join up: http://www.fiftyfifty.me/
Now that you mention it...
Corrected your name btw![]()

In your following updates, please leave this out and update the count in your previous post. But keep updating, I don't want to eliminate discussion, but I have to keep the updating process somewhat manageable.
The only thing I'm not counting are volumes of ongoing comic series. But stand alone GNs I'm counting.
I might end up being flexible on the Comics "rules" (there are no official rules, it's all up to you, of course). I'd really like to get through the Plague Of Frogs BRPD hardcovers and I feel like if you can count Ice And Fire, you should be able to count something like that. But I don't think counting something like X-Men Legacy vol. 3 is really fair.
Update:
tim_south - 3/50 books | 4/50 films
Books:
The Deep Blue Good-By by John D Macdonald
The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen
A Few Seconds of Panic by Stefan Fatsis
Films:
Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
The Game (1997)
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2012)
The Impossible (2012)
Gonna have some fun with this and lists the Books and Films in order of quality/enjoyability....should have a fine list by years end, hopefullyEverything I've read/watched has been good at the very least.
Wait, you just included this in yours, minus the indent. Is the indent what makes the difference?
A Clash of Kings was not as good a read as A Game of Thrones, but not bad either. Now I startet a Storm of Swords and finally I'm off to a story I haven't previously seen on TV. I have heard good stuff about this book, so I'm quite hyped again.
Cosmopolis could have been far better. Same thing with the Bourne Legacy - far top convoluted story, that tries too hard to tie the last movie and this one together. And the ending was really bad. The action built up quite nicely, but that would not have been a good final fight in any movie... Still don't like the shaky-cam, but that much was expected.
Dredd on the other hand: Beautiful! Much better than I anticipated and a better realization of the concept than The Raid. Will watch again and hopefully it will rock the charts now, so there can be another one.
Django was pretty good. Excellent at times, average at others, but in the end my best cinema experience in quite some time.

Books
[*]Mort by Terry Pratchett. ★★★- Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett. ★★★★
- The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Stevenson. ★★★★½
- The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett. ★★★★
- The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett. ★★★½
Movies
- Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. ★★★★ -- Robert Downey Jr. is so captivating on screen, I think I'd pay to watch him eat pistachios. Guy Ritchie really won me over with both Holmes films. I give this one a slight nod over its predecessor due to a more likable villain.
- Drive. ★★★★★
- Looper. ★★★½
- Indie Game: The Movie. ★★★★
- The Queen of Versailles. ★★★
Really? I think Mort is probably one of my favorite Discworld books. The Death stories are his best ones.
