Music sounding like it's around you? Being able to hear tiny little sounds you don't normally hear? I call it music in 3d, lol. Something with a big sound stage I would imagine.

Are you sure you aren't already feeling the effects of weed already?

I think you're looking for sound files like iDoser

So I got a Beats Solo for Christmas. I should...be happy right?

if you like the sound, yes.

you might here everyone telling you you can get better for cheaper, yada, yada, but when it comes down to it, sound equipment is all about the sound signature you enjoy.

but I am taking tiny steps forward

Well, it's about sound signature but it's also about the transparency/imaging/soundstage/sibilance/all that other stuff that is more objective. The reason people don't like the Beats is because you can get headphones for quite a lot cheaper which have a similar sound signature and are similar in those other qualities as well.

Bwahahahaha.

So, a couple weeks ago I got my Audio Technica M50. My mother tried them out and liked them as well, and hinted she'd like a pair too.

...So comes Christmas Eve morning, literally 15 minutes ago, I call my stepdad about something he could talk about yesterday:

SD: Hey, were you still planning on getting your mother those headphones?

Me: No, I had something else in mind.

SD: Well good, don't. I got her a pair!

Me: Oh okay!

SD: But I got her something better! A pair of BOSE!

Me: Um...oh...okay!

---

A Bose QC15 specifically. So, I don't know, it's Bose, but they could be good for all I know. Though, according to the Amazon page, it $300, almost $200 more than I paid for mine...gulp.
ugh fucking bose.

If we're talking about good spatial imaging and transparency my vote will always be for the Ultrasone HFI-580 at around $100. Probably a bit more though...I've seen them go for about $110 before.

aftershokz-earphones-5-537x402.jpg

Got me some aftershokz.
Bone conduction cans
The bass is vibration, but if they don't ruin my eardrums why not. These are safer than regular cans amirite?

Been rocking these for a while now.
Impressions
+ music can get intensely loud
+ bass is actual vibrations
+ charge actually lasts 12h, with 20h standby - left em on overnight
+ cheap
+ nothing in your ear (no bacteria build up/no cleaning required)
- sound leakage

Hi! It's my fist time on this thread!

I'm coming here for help regarding which headphones I should get.

I had a px100 like 1 or 2 years ago, they broke and since then, I've gotten cheap earphones and nothing else. But now that is Christmas I've got money to buy them I want to ask if I should buy another px100 or go with other headphones. My budget is 100€ (or $).

PD: I listen to music with a lot of bass.

Hey guys I've been using a SUDH1 + HD 650 pairing for the past few years. I'm thinking of replacing the SUDH1. Is there a better alternative to the unit? I need something which would serve the same purpose- ie decode Dolby Digital/5.1/7.1. Budget is around $220

Anyone had any experience RHA MA-350's? Been on the lookout for new IEMs today as my current set went through the wash and one earbud is down and these seem pretty good for the money from that I can gather

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0053R0WWG/

I'd recommend the VSonic GR02 Bass Edition

I plan on using them outside, so I don't think these would be so great.
Hell, almost every headphone isn't good for using them outside.
Are there any IEMs that fit my description and in that price range?

Those VSonic seems good enough and I can have them for about 30€ at home.

Go with them then, that's such a good value. You'd love the Q40 though when amped, like I don't think you'd need another headphone for a while especially if you ended up copping some Beyerdynamic velour pads to go with them.

A question about amps. I've always wanted an amp, but they were always bulky, but the E06 seems small enough. But as these vsonic have only 24 ohms of impedance, I don't know if they would still make a difference on the quality.

I've also seen some connector to ram up the impedance of the earphones. Does this make a difference?

Would you guys recommend the ATH M50's over the TM1's? The former are actually cheaper online so it's making the decision a little more difficult

OK can you guys help me out? I admit I don't know anything about this sort of thing but I'm looking a good set of quality headphones at around the price range the Beats sell at but not them, as even I know they are overpriced for what you are really getting.

Can anyone give me a place to start looking?

Went ahead and got the ATH-AD700's. Bass isn't the greatest ever, but overall they sound fantastic. And after using closed headphones for a few years, I love how light open ones feel.

You know how much time I've used mine since I got them a year or so ago? Maybe...an hour. On the first day.

:(

This doesn't sound good. What happened? Am I the prouder new owner of shitty headphones?

Got me a little worried (but it's all good, I have a 30 day window to return these for a refund from Amazon :lol).

They sound nice to me, but I certainly don't consider myself a headphone expert so I've never had much confidence in any pair that I've purchased. Have only owned a few high end pairs.

I've already posted earlier on wanting to upgrade my Creative Aurvana Live headphones, but I'm stuck on two pairs of headphones.
Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro or SoundMAGIC HP100?
I have a Fiio E7 already, if that makes any difference.

Just look at impedance. Most cans should do fine, but some that have higher impedance may require an amp with an iPhone.

I get that, I just want controls and a microphone for my iPhone in a set of over ear cans. The sennheiser mm30i set ingot are rubbish. Why I went Sennheiser I'd beyond me.

Depends on what genre of music you listen to mostly and what sort of sound signature you're looking for. If you listen to bass heavy, club sort of tracks mostly, you'd be looking at a completely different phone than if you listened to rock music with fast guitars or if you listened to mostly classical.

Man, the HD800 are really awesome.
The HD700 really suck. The art of making inferior headphones... sigh.

Surprisingly, I also tested the K550 again and for me, they work really well. The bass has actual body for a change and they sound really clear. They are also really light.

Okay, enough of the randomness. I need a writeup of HD800 vs K550 vs MadDogs vs Thunderpants. Thanks and merry Christmas :)

Oh they're great. I just don't really have a use for them, as I use speakers instead. The AD700s are just too big when it comes to use outside the house, so I just use IEMs.

I suppose that I'll get more use out of them when I start listening to audiobooks or music in bed.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I'm enjoying them so far, but they're strictly for home. I look like I'm working air traffic control or something with these things on :lol

Soundmagic HP100 because they have better mids.

Are those the new Apple ones or the old ones?

The new ones. They are surprisingly good.
I think what bothers me with the Shures is the overly neutral sound. It's not a very fun headphone (I realize they're supposed to be reference cans).
Sure, you can crank them up really high without the sound getting really distorted but i still enjoy the sound of the earpods more, even if they're technically of lower quality.
Pretty sure I'm gonna sell them and maybe buy the Ultrasone HFI680/780.

Yeah, I really like the new ear pods (and have talked about them here).

For 30 bucks, it's hard to do better. Before these, my fav cheap earbud was the hisoundaudio PAA-1 Pro for $40-50. those are bassier and have more aggressive mids.

It is possible, of course, to get a more refined, cleaner sound from more expensive IEMs in the 60 to 100 dollar range. but for 30 bucks? hard to beat the sound and convenience of the earpod.

it helps that they fit great in my ears. they don't stick in much at all. if someone else's ears don't work with their shape, then they won't like them, of course.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
I'm home now and about to shower. I might open my Consonances I posted above afterwards though to listen to some tunes while I wait till it's time to go out later.

I can take pics when I open them if anyone cares, and obviously I'll post impressions at some point. :p

Any of you guys have a headphone amp/dac you like for your computer? My AKG K702's sound super flat plugged into my Mac Pro. Don't need anything crazy, just daily listening while working type of thing.
