Yes, the smoke. The Ing liquid/smoke form in MP2E looked very Wind Waker like.

Ah yeah, I liked that type of smoke in ZoE2 as well...in fact...IMO, that was one of the best looking parts of the game

the smoke in WW was more 'swirly' though

How can you tell? It's just a blur.

And how about that leather shading? :)
The reflections off of the hog are awesome. I don't understand why his tusk reflects like the rest of his body though.

I watched a movie of this game where Donkey Knog was battling some other ape one on one and now I am convinced someone needs to make another Punchout game. That is all. Oh, and the game looks pretty fun but I hope (but I'm thinking they won't) have an option to play the game with a regular controller and not the drums.

There is an option to use the controller, but the bongos work much better. If you don't have a set of bongs, the game comes backed with a set at $50.

Anyone know if you can use a controller or not? The kongas will be nice but a more traditional input method would be nice too (and quieter).

2005 looks good on gamecube.

Yup RE4, StarFox, DKJB, Zelda, Fire Emblem, AW:UF, Konga 2, Killer 7 (finally, I hope its good), Geist and we haven't even hit E3 yet.

You can use a controller, but don't expect DKC control. Nintendo tried to emulate the bongo style play on the controller. Your better of sticking with the bongos.

Yes, you can use a controller. Olimario had an import impressions thread and confirmed this. IIRC, the control stick was the left bongo, A, B, X, Y, or the C-Stick was the right bongo, and L, R, or Z is the clap. It's basically the same setup as Donkey Konga.

thats actually wrong. To move, you have to press the control stick left or right, PLUS keep tapping the B button to move in that direction. A is both bongo hits, and C-stick is clap. It is not the same as Donkey Konga at all. I know this to be fact, because i cannot find bongos anywhere near me as they are sold out, and ive played the first 4 levels of the game with the controller. and had the best time doing it, too.

But animal skin doesn't shine like that unless it's plastic or soaked with water. ;)

And gorillas don't ususally wear ties, but now you are probably imagining a situation where one could. Therefore I can now imagine a greased up and/or soaked pig.

Fair enough?

All of this looks so much more slick in motion.
And the final boss has some awesome battle animation. He's easy, but it's cool.

Looks really bad. Isn't this a music game?
I can't tell if you're trying to troll or just uninformed, so I've prepared a serious answer:

No, it's a platformer that uses the bongos. Yes, you can still use a regular controller, but it's not your regular "left to go left, right to go right" control scheme. Rather, it tries to emulate bongo use, which is the recommended way to play the game, as it was developed with the bongos in mind.

By the way, the game looks amazing in motion, one of the better looking GameCube games out there.

In case of troll, here's my response:

Does it look like a fucking music game?

I think those are pretty cool mechanics you've described. I suspected that. That kind of interactivity is something I wish more developers would incorporate. That said, however, these screens still look pretty poor. I'll have to check some movies.

What???

The screens look ace! This is definitley a game that's got my juices flowing. It's nice to see Nintendo, yet again, releasing some innovative new stuff- with mawaru and yoshi: universal gravitation on GBA using the tilt technology to great effect and of course the touch aspect of the DS, it's nice and refreshing to see these games amongst the raft of generic platformers, racers, fighters, RPGs etc.

I dunno how people can complain about the graphics at the least- they look fantastic, and even better in motion. The fur is probably the best I've seen.

This will also have a Free bongo offer right ?

cuz I missed the Donkey Konga one

Well, I'd be shocked if they were free :-P

There will be a "with bongo" and "without bongo" option...

Seriously for GC, with the exception of Zelda or maybe RE4, this could be it. I only put about 20 mins into the import so far but the game was just insanely fun and well designed. Just like Mawaru Made in Wario, straight from the get go it just screams originality and fun. I can't wait to get back to it.

My only worry is it being really short as you seem to go through a world in like 5 mins. Anyone with the import have a length estimate?

Bah, I thought I read otherwise but this is straight from the horses mouth so... Thanks for the clarification. :)

This is the way fur shading should be done, and not like the crap in Conker...
have a look at it a bit closer... it's not that great.

I like the DK fur shading better myself. SFA's fur shading is also nice. They may look bad in stills, but I think if you see these games and Conker in motion the reverse happens. The fur in the Conker demo I have looks even more un-natural than the other games.

It's serves it's purpose better than this:

Just look at the tail ¬¬U...
well... i actually think the conker fur looks better. not that it matters though. i'm not buying Jungle Beat for the fur....
