Only Sega can take something like fishing and make it a fun and action-packed arcade game :messenger_tears_of_joy:

As for arcade music, I still sing Daytona to myself all the time. When I'm not humming Sonic 2 tracks, that is. Sega has always been super strong in this area.

When I saw this thread, I realized I was already randomly humming labyrinth zone from Sonic 1. And Sonic Adventure happens to have one of my fav game OSTs of all time.

90's Sega music leaves a strong legacy, even more so if you include games primarily developed in the late 90's but releasing around 2000, like PSO.

There was just something about Sega music that made it iconic. Even post Mega Drive the tradition continued with that sweet arcade goodness on Saturn & Dreamcast

Sega Touring Car Championship OST is pure bliss. The Saturn port had pretty horrible framerate but it was worth playing to listen to these tunes.

I love this game, played it a ton on Saturn in order to unlock the tracks etc... You had to build an AI in order for it to win the races, lot of fun.

These musics feel like Initial D.

I really really miss sega mid 80s through the 90s.

Their games always had their own look, feel, sound and were unique unto them. I think sega will be the last truly unique game console and game creator. But yes Segas music was always great and sounded nothing like anyone else's. You could play music from a sega game I'd never even heard of and I could tell you it was from a sega game just by hearing like 15 seconds of it.

Really wish they would do more mini consoles of their other systems.

Turn your volume to MAX...

Gawd damn why can't we get a remaster or sequel to that game for nextgen 😭😭😭...gah don't get me started. That's just one. That OST was incredible.

A personal (and absolute) favorite:

I actually play this (among so many other notable 90's game scores) while running Crucible (Destiny 2) or Division 2. There is something special when the present meets the past in gaming via music. I'm amazed how many of these modern games play well with older music playing in the background (via USB music player lol).

(I'm sorry)
Agree 100% anyway, Whirlwind is a masterpiece and one of my favourites as well.

I also love Ristar, another Sonic Team's platformer masterpiece. Too bad they all forgot about it:

And Panzer Dragoon Zwei stage 4 was (still is) an incredible showcase both visually and with music:

Yep and most of the music in Zwei was being pumped out by the Saturn's awesome sound chip.

I almost prefer the Genesis titles to Saturn game music. 1992-95 had some killer tracks

this one was one of my crank the bass up, fitness, alarm, running, get the day started music...

I used to call this one "journey of life" before I knew the OST title

The bass these tracks had back then!!! This game had some real classics

Does it have to be just arcade?

My top two pics are probably Outrunners and Panzer Dragoon Saga. So many awesome songs between those two, easily. And to squeeze another in there, Streets of Rage 2 of course.

Honorable mentions for Shining the Holy Ark, Scud Race, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic R.

And holy shit, can't forget Shinobi 3 or Revenge of Shinobi, either. Even Shinobi Legions/X has some boss tunes in there.

Hope they consider a SEGA box or something down the line. Singular emulation machine, maybe Linux-based, powerful enough for everything from SG-1000 up to the Chirico and NAOMI 2 arcade boards, package it with a selection of games sampled from the arcade and home systems, make different shells stylized after their home consoles (but same hardware specs inside), and maybe have some mode to switch to general PC tasks in some Linux operating environment for convenience sake.

If they made something like that I'd buy a Saturn version for $150 or even $180, easily. And that one could have a bigger ratio of Saturn titles, for example. And as always, get M2 on it 👍

Dude, that was one of my favorite Shinobi musics of all time. I loved the game, aways felt like its way ahead of its time.
I feel bad I coundn't find the game when I was a kid and have my Mega-drive. Played only years later.
