Me too. I thought it was just poetic justice for my having made fun of all the people waiting on the physical book, but it must be a real issue.Duane Cunningham said:I can't believe I've waited this long, it finally shows up in iBooks, and... It crashes iBooks every time I try to open it. Every. Time. I'm so pissed right now.

I've read that the editing process was rushed to get the book out in time and that a lot of phrases and descriptions are over-used such as this one. Wonder if they'll correct it in later editions of the book.Basileus777 said:Words are wind. Words are wind. Words are wind. Words are wind. Words are wind. Words are wind. Words are wind.
My god, Martin uses this phrase so many times. I cringe everytime I see it.

"You know nothing, Jon Snow"; Daenerys' theme is "If I look back I am lost"; Tyrion is haunted by his father's last words, "Wherever whores go." These phrases are like dragons' eggs: the characters keep them close, in the hopes that one day, if they think them enough times, the words will hatch forth the wisdom they desperately need.

Basileus777 said:Abattoir? I noticed it too if that's the word you're talking about.
There was also a part of the book where he kept using catspaw when I don't remember him ever using that word in previous works. I felt like I was reading a Jim Butcher book.
Gambit said:I always cringe when someone breaks his fast. It's probably all right to use the phrase in this particular context, but it always reminds me of "fasting", not breakfast. And he used it so often.

Basileus777 said:For those of you with a physical book, how does it compare to the ASOS hard cover in size? The two books have a similar word count (with ASOS having a slight edge) but the pictures make me think ADWD might be bigger.
A detailed account of the Doom of Valyria quite a few books overdue is spine-crawling and disturbing
BattleMedic said:Where are people in the UK buying it from? On Amazon there only seems to be the hardback. The Paperback says pre order for the 27 Sep 2012!? (not sure if this will be corrected) and the I need the paperback to so it doesn't look odd with the collection.
