With 2024 coming to an end, I feel that it's a good time to start a thread about the upcoming published games of Sony Interactive Entertainment slated for 2025. As of 27 December 2024, there are six (five for retail, one digital-only) SIE games expected to release in 2025.

Midnight Murder Club | PlayStation Studios XDEV (America) - February 2025 (early access)
r7Ivqyr.jpeg

Developed by Velan Studios (previously known for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and Knockout City), Midnight Murder Club is a party multiplayer PvP first-person shooter with a ton of stealth, hide-and-seek elements, and a key focus on proximity chat.
It had a cross-play beta this month, and it's set to launch at early access in February 2025.

MLB The Show 25 | PlayStation Studios San Diego Studio - 2025
M6Khr2I.jpeg

The latest entry in the long-running baseball game series, MLB The Show 25 is set to release in 2025.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach | PlayStation Studios XDEV (Japan) - 2025
9X5iHxB.jpeg

Developed by long-time SIE partner, Kojima Productions (Death Stranding, Death Stranding Director's Cut), DS2 is an open world action game, sequel to the 2019's Death Stranding that took the world by surprise.
Originally unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, it went on to have a long trailer at the 1/24 State of Play, and a showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2024 featuring the game's new photo mode among other things.
It's set to release in 2025, with Hideo Kojima confirming the announcement of an actual release date early in the year.

Ghost of Yōtei | Sucker Punch Productions - 2025
HillcTB.jpeg

The sequel to Sucker Punch's big action-adventure hit from 2020, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is set in the Hokkaido island in the 17th century, featuring a new protagonist, Atsu, who will take the role of "The Ghost" in this new entry.
The game was revealed in the 9/24 State of Play, and it's scheduled for a release in 2025.

Lost Soul Aside | PlayStation Studios XDEV (Japan) - 2025
kjRVe8E.jpeg

After the big restructuring that took place at Japan Studio, SIE tasked its external development producers in Tokyo to bring Asian games outside of Japan under the PlayStation Studios umbrella. With the help of the PlayStation China Hero Project team, they found a couple of Chinese projects that could greatly benefit from the output of XDEV.
One of these was Lost Soul Aside; developed by Ultizero Games, it's a single-player action RPG featuring stylish hack and slash combat.
Starting development as an one-man project in 2014, the title got support from PlayStation CHP in 2016, and it got picked up for PlayStation Studios production in 2021/2022. Ultizero ended up employing over 40 people by late 2022.
At the PlayStation China 10th anniversary event in 12/24, Lost Soul Aside got a new trailer, and was confirmed for a release in 2025.

Convallaria | PlayStation Studios XDEV (Japan) - 2025
LL7PvF1.jpeg

While this one isn't exactly confirmed for 2025, I decided to include it as it was already previously planned for 2024.
Developed by Loong Force, Convallaria is an online multiplayer third-person shooter game with PvE and PvP modes.
It's another PlayStation China Hero Project-supported game that got picked up by PlayStation Studios in 2021/2022.

And that's all for now, I wouldn't rule out SIE having more new planned games for this year as 2024 showed with releases within the same year of announcement with Astro Bot, Until Dawn and LEGO Horizon Adventures.
Let's see what the first State of Play of 2025 has in store for us.

What time is it?
I admired Death Stranding more than I enjoyed playing it. I still think it has the most interesting online implementation since Demon Souls. It's Kojima, so I'll be there day one.

I fell off of Tsushima pretty quickly as it felt too repetitive and the only mechanic I really enjoyed was the dueling. I'm curious to see how Yōtei improves upon the formula and what they'll do with the wolf companion. A wait-and-see title for me.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
DS2 and .......................ghost of yotei despite the wokeness, i give it a freepass.

Having Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei dated for 2025 is absolutely huge and I'd dare say you can lock them down already as Game of the Year nominees for the next The Game Awards. I also anticipate that they'll have some surprises when it comes to traditional singleplayer games, namely the Until Dawn sequel – in development at Firesprite since 2020 – and the Venom spin-off game from Insomniac's Spider-Man series. Not to mention the much rumored Days Gone and Gravity Rush remasters, which could very well be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to re-releases in a year that also marks the 10th anniversary of Bloodborne and the 20th of the God of War series.

And not only that, as 2025 should also bring the second wave of Sony live-service offerings; with Marathon currently targetting 2025, Jade Raymond's FAIRGAME$ said to be making some great progress behind the scenes and Horizon Online apparently scheduled to launch sometime in the first half of the year. And that's all on top of the usual suspects – MLB The Show and Destiny 2, which has two expansions planned for 2025 – and the recently announced Midnight Murder Club.

It really has the potential to be an outstanding lineup of titles from Sony, perhaps even one of their all-time best.

I only care about LSA and maybe DS2 from this list. Maybe Convallaria too.

And those aren't even first party since Sony doesn't own the IP.

Yes even Death Stranding isn't even first party anymore because Koji Pro now owns the IP entirely, hence the first game is now coming to Xbox.

Only Ghost from this list is an actual Sony first party game. I guess you can count MLB also since Sony owns San Diego studio that makes it even if they don't own the MLB IP.

So all in all, meager list.

DS2 is the only one I’m interested in and technically not Sony anymore. Such a shame. Hopefully Sony have some surprise releases lined up.

That had to be allowed by Sony, the ownership of a specific work has more to do than whoever owns the IP.
No.

It wasn't just Sony allowing the port but keeping the IP ownership.

It was explicitly stated in the same announcement that Koji Pro now owns the IP as well.

Death Stranding is no longer a Sony 1st party franchise.

You don't understand what I'm talking about.
Kojipro can make its own Death Stranding games and release them everywhere? Yes. But Sony, as one of the production companies on both DS1 and DS2 and the one that fully funded both projects, absolutely has a say in where they can be released.
Kojipro can't just do whatever it wants with these particular titles without the permission of Sony.

I have a mild interest in Ghost of Yotei. Other than that, the rest are a big "no thanks" for me. My PS5 will continue to collect dust it seems.

Still waiting on that Bloodborne Remake...
ponder-pondering.gif
What Bloodborne remake? Its going to be a decade after the initial release, and outside of it being seen in trailers to promote the Playstation brand, there is no indication Sony wants to revisit that IP. There are hundreds of Souls like games now, its not unique anymore. There is no money to be made for a remake, but if it is remade, it will most likely be a PS6 exclusive anyway.

You know, I might be poo-pooing this list, but out of all games studios, Sony has the best chance of dropping a game out of nowhere and sweeping GOTY; ala Astrobot. Let's see...
  • Sony Santa Monica has been working on a second game since God of War (PS4) dropped in 2018. Cory Barlog led team; game could be incredible.
  • Bluepoint gave us Demon' Souls remake then went radio silent. Good team, good track record.
  • Media Molecule is still somehow alive. They are a very creative team and all it takes is the right idea at the right time to win.
  • Housemarque lost their lead developer, but much of that team is still together so they can make a GOTY level game, they are well-respected for a reason.

I'm not one of those who think a woman protagonist = woke dei infested trash, but still can't believe they ditched Jin for a female character and the thought process was:

"Jin was so cool, how we make a female character cooler than our previous main character? I know, give her 2 swords!" :messenger_beaming:

The only thing good going from Sony First Party at the moment, hoping Barlog's team has something to show next year...

DS2 is going to win GOTY because muh Kojima, even tho the game will be twice the walking simulator it was the first game...

Not gonna lie, nothing there of interest to me. Ghost of Yotei maybe if it was still with Jin, but as it is, yea kinda nothing. Death Stranding was too weird for me so not even gonna bother with 2nd.
