Acer is announcing two new Nitro Blaze gaming handhelds at CES 2025, and one of them, the Nitro Blaze 11, is truly giant with a massive 10.95-inch screen.

Seriously, it's huge — just look at this photo of a person holding it! It's absurd!

In addition to that enormous screen — which is a 144 Hz WQXGA touch display that can top out at 500 nits of brightness — the Nitro Blaze 11 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 8040HS processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 2TB of storage, according to a press release. The Nitro Blaze 11 also has detachable controllers, a built-in kickstand, Hall Effect joysticks, and two back buttons.

The Nitro Blaze 11 will start at $1,099.99.

I mean... it's not like the optics of playing a Steam Deck or Switch are any better. Depending on weight and ergos, it might make sense to go full retard on this one.

HAHAHAHAH I KNEW IT!

When I suggested Nintendo could release a Switch 2 with a 15 inch screen, everyone laughed at me and said it was impossible.

Who's laughing now? Clearly there is a market for a giant handled and I was spot on with my assessment.

$100 per inch

$1,100 for this? Fuck off with that.

None of these portables are even approaching "pocketable" or "portable", so the more screen the better IMO. 6, 7, and even 8" panels are honestly too small for games designed for desktops and giant TV's, they're an uncomfortable experience. That's why a lot of people try to hook them up to those AR/VR glasses. The price is utterly ridiculous though, better to buy the cheapest highest performance one and just pair it with some of the AR glasses.

I just gotta laugh at this picture. Whan are you lugging this thing to the pier or a party? Where do you store it? You need a laptop bag for this thing and you better have it charged before you leave, cause it's going to eat that battery.
I like to bring mine to the beach and play Balatro while drinking pina coladas. That thing is a total pussy magnet

"So, the Steam Deck is large, but it can play x86 desktop games on the go with better portability than a more expensive Laptop."

"so you're telling me consumers want larger handhelds?"

"wut"

This is how the board meeting went.

I'm hoping this is just a bad Photoshop because those shoulder buttons are big.

How people feel walking around with that:

imagine you playing this in public and every person just sit beside you and watch.
