Adam Sessler's Xbox One Controler & Kinect hand on.

The 360 one does that too unless I'm missing something. I use my wired 360 controller on my PC.

The wired 360 controller does work on PC, yes.
The wireless 360 controller does not work on PC using the charge cable. You need a seperate dongle (I bought a 3rd party one for like $10-15) to get the wireless working on the PC.

I'm mostly just happy that the Xbox One doesn't have any new features that would render the 360 controller obsolete for PC's. The 360 controller has finally become standard in a large amount of PC games and I didn't want a new controller to fracture the support or anything like that.

The thing is all this bs Microsoft is doing sucks. They have a powerful box (compared to 360), a better controller and a better Kinect.

I can't seem to understand your post. It sucks but is better? or are you referring to another thing?

Neo Kinect seems like such a leap, 1080P Skycalls should also be pretty good.

Same, I'd have to see options like if I can play it without batteries and connected to the cable or a simple wired version is the big thing I want if I'm going to replace the 360 one on my PC, d-pad be damned since that doesn't come into play too much. Or playing a shooter with a pad, so if devs want to program subtle differences in guns into the trigger motors it'll be lost on me anyway.

I'm pretty excited. The original Kinect's biggest downfalls were A) It was technologically behind where it needed to be and B) It was an afterthought by most developers considering that most homes with an Xbox lacked it. With those two things no long true, it's going to be cool to see what high level developers are able to do with something where input lag and attach rate are not longer an issue.

Here's a VERGE hands on.

I'm really warming up to the controller. It just looks beautiful to me.

Looks like battery packs might still be an option:

So how much will this be adding to the final price? Can't be cheap but seems to be integral to the experience Microsoft want to provide.

Be surprised. Kinect is like running a dead-end for hundreds of miles hoping to find a way out. Yet, there isn't one, and it would have just been easier to run back.

This thing has nothing innovative or exciting to offer in regards to gaming, besides some capabilities we have already seen i.e. dance central etc. Devs have had years to work with this thing. The recognition system isn't at fault; it's just that the whole thing is terrible and useless. The technology will only become useful, once the system is able to locate you in a virtual reality, where you can run around and do shit. Until then, its capabilities are extremely limited and mostly in regards to useless voice recognition stuff, that you can procure much faster with buttons. We see the same shit with phones etc; face unlocking and such. But, no-one gives a fuck about these features, when they're inefficient.

edit: I appreciate the technology and it looks cool. But, that's merely it. It's not 'THE NEXT BIG THING'. It's simply improving immensely on a flawed formula.

Kinect 2.0 seems a lot more refined than the first one.

I think there is a lot of potential for the heart rate monitoring feature. Imagine a COD Search and Destroy match where you could see your teammate's heart rates once you've died. It would be pretty interesting for those final 1v1 duals.

Horror games could also utilize it to great effect.

Guys, it doesn't really monitor your heart rate, it looks at your face and if your face is kind of scrunched up it assumes your heart rate is higher.

How would it detect your heart rate? Spot your veins in your neck pulsing a half-millimeter?

Some jankiness around 2:20, arm flickering, head went sideways...

Kinect is a blast with a group of friends, great casual pick up and play party games which no game with a controller can replicate

Seeing the controller being handled in-person, I think it looks pretty good actually.

They've probably knocked it out of the park once again with this. And while I'm leaning Sony still, I cant deny that the Xbox controller is a pretty big draw all on its own.

I love the controller and the Kinect tech looks much better. Maybe it'll be good enough to provide more "core" gaming uses like head tracking and whatnot.

Thanks for posting this. I'm trying to read multiple sources to get good info, as gaf is getting me down about the console reveal. Watched it, liked what I saw. Came on gaf to what seemed to be the apocalypse. It's telling about the mood on gaf, that the news that the controller is excellent and Kinect 2 is very accurate, isn't getting even a full page of discussion.

They didn't use it in a real game. I didn't see any finger tracking either. I can't imagine that it's as bad as the original Kinect but it might be too early to start the ticker tape parade.

Agreed

what is their fascination with kinect? who is the guy at the top that keeps wanting to push this

they are pushing this thing like its the next coming of the joystick

With the original kinect was that it was impressive but turned out to be complete trash. Xbox one seems to be the epitome of backwards thinking and garbage.

Micro. Smoke and mirrors as usual. Don't get too hype like you probably did with natal then transformed into kinect crap. I see a lot of wish full thinking here and optimism when Micro. Def doesn't give a reason to be optimistic. Same tricks, focused on Kinect and multi plats hmmmm where did we see this before.

Looks way better. Could be really interesting if it works as intended this time.
Kinect had moments of fun but the problems with it killed the overall experience.
