The thing that's so great about Fedor is he wins based on intangibles. He can be dominated in a fight and then just know when and where to capitalize on any mistake or how to hang on.

The best example imo is the fight against Fujita. He was done with that one punch but he found a way to hold on to the guy enough to keep consicious and then turns the fight around for a victory even when still wobbling.

finally saw the fedor/arlovski fight and i saw no controlling of the fight by arlovski, and certainly he wasnt dominating. he looked sharp, and was doing fine, but neither guy had landed anything even remotely significant till the KO punch. fedor said he thought the fight was basically even till the knock out and i pretty much agree.

I'm amazed by the number of people crediting Arlovski for having a small point lead before getting knocked out cold in the first round.

Well I'm no judge but I was actually surprised how sharp AA looked until he got knocked out :D Sharp enough to be ahead in the scorecards, or to possibly be at least. But score doesn't matter if you don't reach the finishline.

Whats not to get credit for? It's MMA, you get knocked out sometimes, you can still pull off a nice performance, especially against Fedor.

In which AA looked good. End of story? Or do you claim that as long as you get knocked out your performance was bad? Pretty funny view on MMA then :lol

i'm not saying Andrei looked bad, but he got KOd rather early in the fight, so its hard to tell how the fight would have unfolded, its not like Arlovski did any significant damage, or had Fedor in a bad position

he was outpointing Fedor for 3 minutes, thats about it

Yep and in a match that gets a KO in the first round everything else is up for speculation. What people are saying is that during the short time we were treated to a nice fight AA looked good and held his own. For example I would have loved to see it go to the second round, if AA wins the first on points what will happen next? Will Fedor pick up the pace or just wait for a mistake. Doesn't mean a thing to discuss it but it's fun to think about. And I would argue that winning a round on points is putting the opponent in a bad position, albeit not as bad as actually hurting them.

And tbh outpointing Fedor for 3 mins is pretty nice. Better then not getting a punch off at all.

ala Tim Sylvia :lol

Yes and while that was pretty funny, it's still an anti climax. When I wait for a fight I expect at least 2 rounds of good, entertaining fighting. !st round knockouts are pretty awesome but after the wtf moment I just feel cheated of some nice mma.

And I'd sure as hell would like to see a rematch with AA, just to see if he can take it a bit further. Not sure who else they can pit Fedor against anyway, ain't much to take in UFC either. HW is in a sad state atm. There is Fedor and...what else? I'm having Mir as the best in UFC atm and who knows how long he could survive against Fedor. They should just merge all the HWs and salvage what can be salvaged, wait until Fedor gets old and find some new talents.

:lol at the way you went about making that GIF EviLore... the way the gif speeds up with AA falling face first into the mat, is hilarious!

Nice finish from Faber. That was a liver shot that set it all up, right? Looks like the champ's back. I feel for Jens, but he's just past his prime. PEACE.

On the Fedor fight, it was great how that fight changed tune. I went from, "holy shit, arlovski is about to unleash the beast on....wtf just happened?" You anticipate a sweet flying knee connecting with a cornered champ, and then the next thing you know, AA is in a heap on the ground and Fedor is walking away with his hand in the air. Crazy. PEACE.

For me it was a complete blue balls moment for it to end in that manner and that's not taking anything away from Fedor who landed a great shot.

It pretty much means we need a rematch although they sadly won't be able to promote something like that for a long time so we may never get it.

pulver is done

cerrone has a massive welt on his forehead in the title fight, surprised he survived that first round

edit: cerrone has a great chin, he's eaten some big shots so far in this fight

cant believe cerrone is hangin around in this, especially after that brutal beating he took in the first round on his back. good stuff

good credit (by proxy)
Fedor just seemed to have nothing much for Arlovski, until Andrei did something retarded. Anyone who is saying it was tied is an idiot. AA was landing twice as many shots, and Fedor was hurt somewhat.

Only Fedor knows if he was hurt. And in the post fight interview he said he was not in trouble at any point, wasn't hurt, felt exactly like where he wanted to be, and that he felt it was even until the knockout.

So all these arguments about AA winning the fight goes flying out the window. Dude got KTFO.

Varner/Cerroni fight was fucking great, too bad about the finish.

Yeah the end was unfortunate. Varner's knees were up when the knee was thrown and hit the ground at the last second.

Tito was really really fucking horrible, embarassing really :( I guess that's why his head is so big, he stores so many fucking retarded things to say in it :(

Didn't he say something along the lines of "Let me tell you how you feel about the win" or something like that after the first or second fight. After that I just fast forwarded past him to the fights (didn't see it live). =/

Wait what? Why do we need a rematch? This fight was settled fair and square and I really don't see any point whatsoever in a rematch.

Maybe it's because there's noone else in Affliction HW division worthy, we don't have a choice. Barnett and Fedor don't want to fight each other, that's all that's left :lol

The best part of Tito's commentary was when Lauzon hit the Suplex in the first match and Tito called it a Souffle.

"That was a wonderful Souffle".

Fedor's definitely walking with more than 300 grand. There's no way.

CP compiled some pick Tito lines of the evening.

Sobral/Sokoudjou

"Here we are with Seraldo Babalu, you did an awesome job, saw why you're a black belt in jiu-jitsu, getting an awesome submission there, I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

"You showed the dominance by getting the takedown and looking for a choke in that position. We know the weakness that you had, but you actually showed the heart and determination of a champion of how tough of a light heavyweight you really are, here in the Affliction card. What do you think of the future of you, um, future opponents?"

"Yes, and uh, my back will be better in about three months, so I know all the fans would love to see me and you get it on. You know what, you're an awesome fighter, congratulations tonight. Everybody lets give a hand to Renato Babalu, one of the greatest light heavyweights, of the night."

Belfort/Lindland

"Matt the Lindland Law...The Law Lindland."

"Well, Belfort, we saw you with an astonishing left hand, that's the left hand that I used to see you knock people out time and time again, we're gonna go ahead and go over it. Walk me through it, show me exactly what you seen with this."

"Well, like I said, you show your hand-speed time and time again Vitor, 185 pounds, lady and gentlemen, let's give Vitor Belfort a round of applause, an awesome 105 pounder, you just beat the number two guy in the world, buddy, you're on top of the world tonight!"

"Wow! That’s all I got to say. Vitor at 185 pounds. I don’t know. I see him beating the, uh, what was it, Anderson Silva. I see him picking him apart because you have two great boxers, and, man, that was amazing. That was the old Vitor Belfort that we all want to see. Him at 131 years old. He’s back for vengeance."

Barnett/Yvel

"Well, here we go, we, here we go we got Josh Barnett, with a dominating fashion. Buddy, he said he wanted to stand up with you. You said you wanted to stand up with him. All the gameplans get thrown out and you shown the dominant heavyweight that you are. He wasn't getting away from you. Walk me through the fight."

"Well, alright, we're gonna go ahead show some some action from around one right here. I want you to walk me through and how do you feel as you went through this stuff?"

"Well you should have your head high tonight, you did an awesome job, entertained every one of these fans. You did a great job, I'm proud of you buddy. Keep it up, let's see the winner tonight, you'll be next in line."

"Well, you showed what type of champion you really are. Everybody lets give a hand to Josh Barnett, the baby-faced assassin, continuing his win career. Good job Josh! We'll go back to you Sean."

Fedor/Arlovski

"July 4th has come early."

"I'm gonna have my interpreter here for Fedor Emelianenko. Everybody had questions on what type of heavyweight you were. You've showed it once on Tim Sylvia in 38 seconds. You've done it again against Andrei Arlovski in 3 minutes and 34 seconds. Let me tell you how you feelin right now."

"Well there's always been question from other promotions saying that you weren't the best heavyweight in the world. Well, tonight, buddy, you've answered those questions. You tooken out two of the former UFC heavyweight champions and you are the best heavyweight... in my eyes and I believe every one of these guys' eyes around the world... of tonight..."

"Well, we got to see, actually, Josh Barnett in the last fight, win in a decision. It looks like you two are going to be heading off and another chance for you to defend your heavyweight title. What do you think as Josh as your next opponent?"

"Well the millions that are watching at home and the fifteen thousand and more in audience tonight, ladies and gentlemen, the pound for pound best heavyweight in the world today, Fedor Emelianenko, the last emperor, congratulations buddy."
