You guys really need to play more and write less posts. It's not like Microsoft is forcing you, no one cares about Microsoft about gaming industry.. consoles are slowly dying and game pass doesn't even have announced numbers of players cause it's still too low. So why everyone so focused? I'm not interested in any ecosystem in particular, I play whatever comes in hand when I want to. That's all.

After this past week and with so many people cancelling their Gamepass subscriptions after price hikes, certain chains abandoning Xbox, rumors about them possibly even turning into a 3rd party publisher only (unconfirmed rumor), where do you stand as an Xbox console user?

This topic is mostly about Xbox console users only. If you play in multiple platforms this doesnt affect you as much.

The most obvious choice is going to PC but many people do prefer to be console players so i got curious.

Where do you guys stand?

I've sold my Series X last year. Only still used PC Gamepass, but also cancelled it after recent news and lackluster offerings the last months.

Xbox hardware was always great to me. Xbox 360, Xbox One X, Series X and the controllers of course. But their games fell off a cliff after the 360 generation.

Core gameplay and fan focused games, where set aside. Their fishing for "new audiences" started to grow with the xbox one and failed game after game. They pushed others and me into other platforms and games.

Remember what kind of communities we had 20 years ago. Halo, Gears and Forza Motorsport. They left their fans with nothing and pushed them aways, because it was not enough.

Microsoft screwed up the moment they put Kinect TV SPORTS "the next watercooler" before GAMING with the reveal of Xbox One.

That to me was the beginning of the end for Xbox.

Xbox isn't and hasn't been worth having for a long while. It is what it is. I play everything of theirs on PC and that isn't saying much.

-Third-party game support of all types and origins has never been better on an XBOX console;
-The catalog of upcoming first-party games is fantastic;
-I have GamePass Ultimate until February 2027;
-The XBOX has fantastic hardware, and despite everything, the games are arriving very appropriately optimized;
-BC and devMode, PlayAnywhere...

As long as this continues, I don't need to make any decisions. By 2027, we'll probably have a clear idea of the situation, and then I'll consider the options.

I do wonder how many people would move to PC and actually want to stick with it over a console.

I built my first PC recently after being a console gamer all my life and while there are some good benefits in regards to graphics, frame rates and prices etc I have found it a lot more hassle and messing around than a console - updates, drivers, temperatures, how much cpu/GPU/memory is being used plus all the settings options that can improve or ruin your game.

And dont get me started on the HDR/auto-hdr issues I've had.... obviously this is only my own experiences.

Plus the cost of entry is high regardless of what most say - especially if you want a PC to actually be an improvement over your previous console.

I've been going back to my PS5 a lot recently and just turning it on and getting into a game without even thinking about any of the above has been such a relief.
Plus there is a rest mode - one of the series X's best features was quick resume which is not available on PC .

I've also found PC lacking in personality compared to how consoles have a user experience built in in some sort of way.

More thinking out loud that while PC is a good and viable option expectations should be set realistically to maybe avoid disappointment as to how much of an improvement it will be over consoles whereas a better way to look would be how different it is to console.

It's been a terrible few weeks for Xbox

- Forza Horizon 6 announced for PS5
- Microsoft Flight Simulator announced for PS5
- Console big price increase
- Gamepass huge price increase
The only one out of that which is terrible is GP price increase.

They killed the console months and months ago.

And games we knew would come to PS5, what are they doing in your theory?
No game is safe and hasn't been for a long time.

Get your fanboy drivel out of here

My answer to OP is, keep my SX and enjoy BF6 and GTA etc for a couple years then see what's on the market. May buy a SFF Gaming PC and just play there. That or Geforce Now 🧠
