You guys really need to play more and write less posts. It's not like Microsoft is forcing you, no one cares about Microsoft about gaming industry.. consoles are slowly dying and game pass doesn't even have announced numbers of players cause it's still too low. So why everyone so focused? I'm not interested in any ecosystem in particular, I play whatever comes in hand when I want to. That's all.

After this past week and with so many people cancelling their Gamepass subscriptions after price hikes, certain chains abandoning Xbox, rumors about them possibly even turning into a 3rd party publisher only (unconfirmed rumor), where do you stand as an Xbox console user?

This topic is mostly about Xbox console users only. If you play in multiple platforms this doesnt affect you as much.

The most obvious choice is going to PC but many people do prefer to be console players so i got curious.

Where do you guys stand?

I've sold my Series X last year. Only still used PC Gamepass, but also cancelled it after recent news and lackluster offerings the last months.

Xbox hardware was always great to me. Xbox 360, Xbox One X, Series X and the controllers of course. But their games fell off a cliff after the 360 generation.

Core gameplay and fan focused games, where set aside. Their fishing for "new audiences" started to grow with the xbox one and failed game after game. They pushed others and me into other platforms and games.

Remember what kind of communities we had 20 years ago. Halo, Gears and Forza Motorsport. They left their fans with nothing and pushed them aways, because it was not enough.

Microsoft screwed up the moment they put Kinect TV SPORTS "the next watercooler" before GAMING with the reveal of Xbox One.

That to me was the beginning of the end for Xbox.

-Third-party game support of all types and origins has never been better on an XBOX console;
-The catalog of upcoming first-party games is fantastic;
-I have GamePass Ultimate until February 2027;
-The XBOX has fantastic hardware, and despite everything, the games are arriving very appropriately optimized;
-BC and devMode, PlayAnywhere...

As long as this continues, I don't need to make any decisions. By 2027, we'll probably have a clear idea of the situation, and then I'll consider the options.

I do wonder how many people would move to PC and actually want to stick with it over a console.

I built my first PC recently after being a console gamer all my life and while there are some good benefits in regards to graphics, frame rates and prices etc I have found it a lot more hassle and messing around than a console - updates, drivers, temperatures, how much cpu/GPU/memory is being used plus all the settings options that can improve or ruin your game.

And dont get me started on the HDR/auto-hdr issues I've had.... obviously this is only my own experiences.

Plus the cost of entry is high regardless of what most say - especially if you want a PC to actually be an improvement over your previous console.

I've been going back to my PS5 a lot recently and just turning it on and getting into a game without even thinking about any of the above has been such a relief.
Plus there is a rest mode - one of the series X's best features was quick resume which is not available on PC .

I've also found PC lacking in personality compared to how consoles have a user experience built in in some sort of way.

More thinking out loud that while PC is a good and viable option expectations should be set realistically to maybe avoid disappointment as to how much of an improvement it will be over consoles whereas a better way to look would be how different it is to console.

It's been a terrible few weeks for Xbox

- Forza Horizon 6 announced for PS5
- Microsoft Flight Simulator announced for PS5
- Console big price increase
- Gamepass huge price increase
The only one out of that which is terrible is GP price increase.

They killed the console months and months ago.

And games we knew would come to PS5, what are they doing in your theory?
No game is safe and hasn't been for a long time.

Get your fanboy drivel out of here

My answer to OP is, keep my SX and enjoy BF6 and GTA etc for a couple years then see what's on the market. May buy a SFF Gaming PC and just play there. That or Geforce Now 🧠

I haven't subbed to game pass in over a year and had already decided a while a go that this was my last xbox. I will keep this console for the backlog, but will probably shift over to Nintendo

They did all this because they wanted to......... surely. Pretty sure X-box is going to carry on.

I'm gonna just buy a Switch 2 in Spain.

just over 400 digital purchases and about three hundred physical across 360, XB1 and Series.

The last year or so I have been buying more games on PlayStation 4/5 and Switch and stopped subscribing to Gamepass about 18 months ago.

I begrudge giving them any more money with that management there. A disgrace how much potential they have wasted on the brand especially as a console.

Imagine thinking that original Halo Infinite showing was good enough or launching a next generation console and using media allies to considerably push the backwards compatibility narrative because they had little else to show off the console despite having years to plan for it and a mediocre Xbox One generation.

How anyone can sincerely support these people without personal incentives is beyond me.

I've been slowly migrating towards PS5 for a while now. I played way less on my Series X than before, which also means I can't justify Game Pass Ultimate at $30. More and more games are not available physically on Xbox either.

I detest the direction Xbox has been going in and I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

The only generation I can remember where the Xbox hardware was noticeably weaker was the Xbox One generation. At the same time, Xbox(and Microsoft) has always been big proponents of backwards compatibility on their hardware which I appreciate.

PS3 was definitely more powerful then the 360, and was a Blu-Ray player. It was just super complicated to develop for/optimize existing games on, so quite often (not always) multiplatform titles performed better on 360.

On PS3 Last of Us and God of War 3 look better then anything on the 360.

I have zero sympathy for anyone who didn't jump ship in 2013. If they stuck with Xbox they deserve this.

I was all in on original Xbox over PS2 that generation, I was on the side of the console with the most horsepower (I owned both but would buy every multiplat for Xbox). Xbox had amazing exclusives from Bioware and Sega, pretty sure half of my top 10 that generation are like Kotor, Jade Empire, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future, etc.

I was a very early adopter of the 360. But I also bought a PS3 and it had such good exclusives (I am a huge Motorstorm/Killzone/Naughty Dog fan) that I considered that generation a tie.

Xbox's 2013 E3 was so disastrous, and Sony buried the hatched so deep in their skulls, you simply must not have been following gaming news if you did not jump ship and go PS4 exclusive. How do you stick with the company that wanted to eliminate discs and sharing altogether, wanted to make always on-line for every single player game a thing, was more focused on cable television then game announcements, and was offering all this utter bullshit at a higher price point?

And in the midst of the Xbox One generation Microsoft made it clear all their exclusives would come to PC as well, so there was never any reason to buy an Xbox One or a Series X.

I'll still continue to buy games that are first party on the Xbox store for a little longer. Just while there's cross save with my series x. After that. I think I'll go exclusively to steam with first party Sony games on PS unless I can wait for the pc version.

I moved into the Xbox ecosystem during the OG and 360 days due to games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo, Gears, etc. and I got discounts on Microsoft products so it was more affordable. I had PlayStation and Sega prior. Never really a big Nintendo fan outside of (S)NES and gameboy. Was primary Xbox during the 360 era. Never got an Xbone. Got a PS4. Got a series X and PS5, but this is my last gen in the traditional console space.

During the end of the 360 era I moved primary to PC. Before it was just for WoW and other Blizzard or RTS games, but became a primary. At this point PC is the better hardware, more games, Steam is my favorite platform, mod community, etc. and Microsoft games launch day 1 here and Sony games are day 1 or soon enough. My setup allows for me to play at my desk, on the bed or on a couch so the "living room gaming" vibe is met. My kids play PC since their favorite games are more the PC exclusive indie titles like Lethal Company, R.E.P.O and others. I just don't see a reason for traditional consoles going forward, personally. PC and Steam Deck cover all my needs.

A bit harsh. I pre-ordered a PS4 after the Xbox One reveal (or E3, can't remember). In 2015 though there were a number of games I wanted, not least the time exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider. So I finally got an Xbox One after all. One S was great, One X even better. Game Pass was exciting even though I never saw it as anything else than an alternative to the regular model of buying games on disc which I've always continued to do.

I see the AKB acquisition as the killer here. There was no way they could make that money back on Xbox sales alone.

I've stated in a previous thread that if Xbox were to fold, I'll give up gaming.

My stance on that hasn't changed.
Wow.. that's.. very weird. Can't tell if joking, but assume you do since this would be like stop using mobile phones if one of the brands stop making them.

Even more Xbox published games will probably see the light of day if they put all their focus in publishing too.
