Yeah, not feeling Deathlok, at all. (Probably doesn't help that I didn't like Mike beforehand either.)

I hope he's not gonna stick around for long, or they find a way to make him interesting real fast.

Okay, I'm down here visiting family in New Zealand and the newest episode that just premiered here is Fzzt. It's really interesting watching this episode again after what just happened in the show. When Coulson is talking to the firefighter that's about to blow up and he mentions how he died and didn't know how long it was, it cuts to May looking forlorn and at the end she's the one asking Coulson what he's thinking about and convinces him he's "normal". Whether it's coincidental or they really had the idea planned that far back, it's really neat how it matches up to what's currently happening.

I saw Patton Oswalt in "Young Adult", which was an independent film starring Charlize Theron, and he was pretty good in that. I have faith in him to do a good job.

Although the fact that he thought he was MODOK shows how much of a geeky fan he is.

Hi everyone! I've sat out the entirety of this series so far mostly due to a lack of time, but also because early word wasn't so hot. Without spoiling anything, has it improved much since the beginning? Worth taking the dive?

It has improved a bit, perhaps even drastically, but I still wouldn't say it's a great show. The latest episode had Sif and was clearly above the rest in quality...but a lot of that is almost certainly carried by one of the movie actors taking a prominent role in the episode, making it more interesting and inherently important.

Dropping some references to different Marvel characters or objects really isn't enough. Outside of the Sif episode and one other thing from the prior episode
the blue alien
there has been essentially nothing interesting in 15 episodes.

Now, the fact that the last two have had some promising aspects could be taken as an indication that the show is finally going to become better than mediocre. But I don't really believe that to be the case until it actually happens.

Personally I'm sticking with the show at least until the end of the season, but it's a pretty big disappointment. Pretty much since the beginning people have said "oh, but it's improving" and maybe there's some truth to that statement. However, I just don't think it has improved enough to be a worthwhile time investment. The storylines, in general, are pretty bland and uninteresting and extremely rarely actually do anything to further the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Furthermore most of the characters are completely uninteresting, and in a central role the once interesting Agent Coulson is now boring most of the time.

We'll see what the upcoming episodes surrounding The Winter Soldier bring, but the show isn't even close to its potential right now when this deep in the season it really should be.

I'm still excitingly looking forward to the Netflix series they have planned though.

i hate this poster.

That does look pretty awful. I like that they're using an underutilized character like Deathlok for this arc but the design just isn't there. He's not intimidating at all without the context that exists in the show. He's also way too human still to be called Deathlok. He needs a few more "repairs."

Jesus, just take a cue from the Uprising promos and do an e-poster that mashes up Cap's shield with the SHIELD logo. Some vague tagline like "When TWS Ends, The Uprising Begins" or something.

I'm sure he's a nice guy in real life, but J. August Richards is absolutely awful on this show. He was also pretty bad in one ep of Arrow, so I don't think it's just the material either.

They should have had Joss throw the Deathlok costume in the Age of Ultron budget... do a little support financing to help out a struggling, but connected TVverse.

At least the comicon cosplay outfit later in the year can be an exact match.

edit: that outfit need some serious CG assistance.

My Apartment, or the 120 Screenings of Salo
They couldn't just repaint a spare Iron Man torso Marvel had lying around and slap that on him instead? Maybe borrow the Winter Soldier arm too.

Upside, inside out he's livin la vida loca, He'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca
Im telling you, all they had to do was have either Elizabeth or Chloe in that poster and there would be no problema. Py me money.
Yes, agreed, Chloe Sullivan would've fitted perfectly!

I'd hate to have to ask this, but just exactly how low is their props budget? There's no possible way it's that low, considering they had enough money to CGI the leg.

I could be mistaken but I believe the budgets are for the entire season. If that's the case then shows may skimp on certain things in certain episodes in order to free up the budget for other things.
