I could be mistaken but I believe the budgets are for the entire season. If that's the case then shows may skimp on certain things in certain episodes in order to free up the budget for other things.

So what you're saying is that their allocating their budget towards green screening and CGI and skimping on props and practical effects?

I mean, if the budget is indeed allocated for the entire season, then that's one way they could divide it. They could also be saving it for bigger stuff that's yet to come or any number of things.

I don't really know how budgets can be used. Like would the money to pay guest stars come from the same budget as effects? But yeah.. from what I've heard from other shows (Community for example) what gets spent on one ep can be made up for on another and vice versa as the budget is for the whole season. I'm assume it's the same for AoS.

All I know is that I lived through the latter seasons of Chuck when they had the budget cuts and they suffered greatly because of that.

If it's even possible, AoS looks even worse than Chuck. And my guess is that Chuck was working with a lot less.

Eh.. While I'm positive that Chuck's budget at the end was lower than what AoS has currently, I'm sure there's a lot of different variables to consider that aren't really common knowledge so it's not really a fair comparison to make.

Whatever the budgetary issue going on, the costume looks awful and everyone hates it. They really blew the goodwill they earned by announcing he'd be turning into Dethlok in the first place.

You can recreate that costume buying random parts on ebay for less than 50 bucks and some paint.

This has nothing to do with budget of the show, but them being insanely lazy. And this goes beyond this shit costume, the entire show looks incredibly cheap, crappy props, etc. The art and practical effects department of the show is shit tier. Other low budget shows on lesser networks pull off far better stuff with no doubt less resources.

You get one budget for the season. You spend it on everything you need including your main cast. It means you're screwed if your cast gets insanely expensive.

FFS, Jeff Bell, this is not how you respond to criticism:

Bell defended Deathlok's TV show appearance, which has received criticism from online outlets.

"The Deathlok outfit was designed with the creative people at Marvel," Bell said. "If people don't like it because they're haters -- he's in full Deathlok mode, and that's not a happy place to be. I think [Richards] plays that really well. He gets to do some cool stuff in episode 16 going forward."

But Chuck had that delicious Subway money.

I really wanted this show to succeed, but when the producer so obviously doesn't get it it's hard to root for it.

Another week of reruns doesn't help.

Considering how good the last two episodes were, I have to say that I am really looking forward to the rest of the episodes and especially whatever the new status quo is in season 2.
