I honestly don't blame Norton at all. He supplied a significant portion of the script for Incredible Hulk and every single line he wrote got cut from the final version. And a lot of that stuff was good character-building dialogue, but was cutting into the time allotted for shitty fight scenes so they got rid of it.

I think most people would be pissed if that happened to them.

Is there an extended cut or version of Norton's script out there?

Norton didn't do a very good job as Banner. It was just Norton being Norton. Ruffalo really created a character in The Avengers.

I think Cheadle was a big improvement over Howard as well. Howard had trouble conveying charisma without taking it a step too far and compromising his role as the straight man that Downey could bounce off of. Cheadle really had that balance down. He had that kind of reserved swagger that seems contradictory, but he pulled it off. Howard was more showy with that stuff.

Terrence Howard and RDJ had such great chemistry in the first Iron Man. The writers and directors couldn't completely replicate that same chemistry with Don Cheadle and RDJ in the next couple of movies, I think.

I prefer Howard as well. Cheadle doesn't do badly but I feel like Howard fit the role a bit better.. or maybe I should say Howard's version was more enjoyable to watch.

And I got hyped thinking about Howard as War Machine when he said, "next time..." while looking at the Mark II armor.

+1 for Howard as well. Together in the first Iron Man, RDJ and Howard were perfect bros. I like Cheadle, but it's not the same. Though, I think he fits the look of War Machine better.

I liked him in IM2 also. The change was never a "this guy sucks compared to Howard" thing to me. It was more like "this is different. okay."

Both are fine choices for the role IMO, it woulda been neat to see Howard in the suit but it's not gonna happen now.

RDJ and Howard had that great sniping chemistry because they didn't get along on set at all.

Yeah, Howard was fun, and had a very good dynamic with Tony. It some ways they were both each others comic relief and straight man. Cheadle just comes across as stiff and awkward.

Yeah, Cheadle doesn't seem like he is remotely friends with Tony, he is just some guy that has to deal with him.

That looks really nice, that is not official I take it? Though I worry about the head piece with TV production budget and lighting.

No, not official.

I think the headpiece is doable if they segment it into two pieces, hiding the split below what would be his ear. That way Richards can talk with the thing on.

Howard's Rhodes was pretty much the same thing though. Before Tony got his shit together, practically everyone in his life was a part time babysitter. He even had that scene where he told Tony off for not bringing the tech to the army first. They clearly have a long and tested relationship and I think that came across fine with both actors.

I never really bought Howard as a tough military man, but aside from that I think they're pretty interchangeable in their portrayal of the character and his relationship with Stark.

What the shit.

That's pretty left field but awesome for diversity. I swear if they add anymore "tough agents who are out to prove themselves" types, I don't think I can take it.

edit: the bit about MODOK was pretty funny.

I think the Deathlok design is decent.

It wouldn't have really made sense for them to make Deathlok be more machine than man. He's only lost his leg and the scar on his face is not that bad. I think you'll see more happen to him as time goes on, which would cause them to add more. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets part of his face blown off and replaced before he meets with his son again.

I hope Bob got promoted.

Is he shooting at the car and missing every single shot?

I doubt they go as dark as to have him get repeatedly blown up and maimed. I can see them either having him get addicted to the cybernetic improvements OR as apart of the deal he made, he has to continually be upgraded, even if he doesn't want to.

Nah, he's shooting at some dudes in a house across the way.

Patton Oswalt would have made a great MODOK in an Iron Man movie.

I agree with this. I personally didn't really care for Terrance Howard as Rhodey. It always felt like he was trying to steal every scene he was in. I felt Cheadle nailed the character pretty well. The dude has incredible range as an actor. It is hard to believe that the same guy from Hotel Rwanda was also Captain Planet. I really hope we get to see him in Age of Ultron. Hell, if they could get him into an episode of SHIELD (just as Rhodes without the armor) that would be also be fantastic.

Don Cheadle definitely conveys Rhodey as a military man far better than Terrance Howard...

... wait, what? Captain Planet?

Oswalt was great on Dollhouse, from the same showrunners. I'm looking forward to him being on the show.

True that. Spoilers for Dollhouse: at first his character seems like
a creepy dude who hires dolls for sex, but in the end we sort of respect him for it?

This is basically my opinion of Howard's acting most of the time. Guy always seems like he's trying way too hard, but it might just be the way he talks. I get that feeling from him when he's not acting too, maybe he's just super passionate about everything.

Haha, I still think he
ended up pretty creepy character, but no doubt more interesting than he seemed at first!

If you like Oswalt he was great in Ratatouille and Young Adult, too.
