Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
It was almost certainly Garrett who killed the dog after Ward failed to.
The show shows a person looking through a sniper scope and the sound of a supposed gunshot mixing in with the sound of Ward releasing the cage. It's neither clear that it was Ward looking through the scope or that the gunshot actually happened. Though, the straightest way to theorize it is that Ward wouldn't be flashing back to things he didn't see, and the gunshot sound is objectively distinct.

He didn't kill the dog because he was attached. It was a weakness then and he still has it. He hasn't been able to overcome that. I don't think he killed the dog or FitzSimmons.

Maybe he used the rifle to make the dog run even farther away? Like when he killed the deer with the rifle he said it would take the dog a long time to get there. I dunno but it wasn't really clear what happen there.

I thought this episode was uneven for me.

Dug the spy stuff at the start. But don't really care for a lot of the chars and dynamics so Ward's flashback and Simmons' constantly trying to defend Ward did nothing for me.

This is what Garrett looks like in comics.

I wonder if Garrett survives this season? The fact that he seems to have been healed and given super strength makes me believe he'll be around for a bit.

It is pretty ambiguous but not only does Ward not have the rifle when he let the dog go (he left it at the log where he was previously shooting at the deer) but the angle that the dog is running compared to the angle that he initially ran off, suggests it wasn't actually him. You can take further inference from Garrett continuing to call Ward weak multiple times in the present day (always when referencing Coulson's team, who Ward spent a long period of time with).

It could easily go either way, and as it's no doubt intended, but I feel like there's stronger support that it was Garrett.

OH SHIT. The poster for this week's episode actually has a spoiler for next week's episode.

I don't think it's merely Ward's flashback. I read the scene as Garrett probably told him after that he killed the dog after Ward couldn't in order to teach him a lesson. But I dunno, might need to rewatch that scene again.

Also, that tearing up at the dog was crazy cheezy.

AND why the fuck didn't Raina and Ward run away when they saw Garret about to blow up AIM style?

Why is it like a page of arguing if he killed the dog. He's killed like a ton of guards, police and agents. Them actually trying to play up he is hesitating is just absurd, he's an evil somabitch and that should be it. They should only continue the idiotic behavior of people not believing he turned and Ward taking advantage of that and screwing them hard for it.

Tahiti is a magical place (to contemplate life of dog).

Serious though, it cut to Ward pulling the trigger to cut off FItzSimmons just like he did the dog. Would be really dumb if it was Garrett who did it or something and Ward sent them in an iron coffin that carries them to safety. I don't think there's two ways about what they were trying to imply.

Damn Ming Na I don't care that you're 50, gimme dat shit.

Yeah this was strange. I kind of liked the rest of that scene though.

I'm pretty sure the correct interpretation of the scene is that he's not brave enough to kill directly, so he prefers to do it at a distance.

We should make a finale Bingo card with predictions/etc to fill out as the finale ends.

Coulson Geek-Out Moment
Wundagore Mountain
The High Evolutionary
S.W.O.R.D.
Skull Mask
Kree

etc

He can't kill things he's attached to. He's basically got Jaime Lannister syndrome.

What will it take for Fitz to admit his crush on Simmons?

To be locked in with her in a room underwater with no rescue in sight.

FitzSimmons? More like FitzSimpins.

Actually I think the correct interpretation is that he is a triple agent.

HAIL PETA!!

Now is the time.

Also I think awkward FitzSimmons sex scene should be on the bingo card. I'm positive that is what the series has been building to primarily.

I wonder if Fitz will finally get some pity sex considering they are both going to die anyway,

And all those people (still) saying Simmons is Hydra... well, she apparently takes being undercover to the extreme.

Bingo.

I should rephrase: he can't kill them when they're in front of him, so he prefers methods that are indirect, like ejecting the cargo container into the sea.

Except for Hand, the guards on the transfer plane, and the guards at The Fridge.

It's people/things he's grown attached to. Garrett suggests as much multiple times. He shortly after Ward releases him, Garrett questions whether Ward is too close to the team, especially Skye. Garrett also sends Dethlok to tail Ward when he's with Skye to make sure that Ward follows through with Garrett's orders. Multiple times after Ward frees Garrett, Garrett refers to him as being weak.. just as he referred to Ward's attachment to the dog as a weakness.

Yes, I agree. Wasn't that what I said?

If so, that would make Garrett pretty incompetent. He's got an agent working for him with a seeming inability to kill people he's close to. All Garrett would need to do is be a little more chummy with Ward and he'd be invincible.

Garrett just got shot in the leg: "knew you couldn't do it...*wince* this'll heal in a day, you're weak, I trained you and you're attached to me like a little girl"

Ward: "you taught me attachment was a weakness" *headshot*

You know it's coming, personally hope it doesn't, I like ward as a bad guy

I can't deal with dog deaths or sadness. Buddy just sitting there with Ward pointing a gun at him was a NOPE for me. Damn it, Garrett.

Ward looking teary-eyed releasing Fttz and Simmons, feels bad man.

#SitWithHYDRA should be the hashtag.
