On the other hand, it is 12 million viewers behind NCIS. It might be #2 behind NCIS, but it is way behind NCIS just like the rest.

Please note that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of the top five shows for DVR ratings. I have no idea if it ranks up there for top torrented shows.

Ugh this show sucks yet I keep watching because it's Marvel universe. Will probably finish out the season but I don't think it's gonna get much better.

So it's popular in two ways (dvr/piracy) that generate basically no revenue, and this is a positive why?
Clearly the piracy portion isn't an upside, but networks pay close attention to DVR numbers. It has affected the renewals and script orders for shows in the past.

btw Gaf have we all come to the consensus that
Agent Coulson was given the infinity formula to bring him back ala BuckyCap when he was killed with the same injury?

As for the show, so far not so much better, or even worse. It's kinda meh right hopefully with new additions this show will pick up. So far I don't even bother to watch it live anymore and just watch it on Hulu in the background while i'm going something else. Hope this changes.

Why do I care about revenue? We are talking about popularity. If you want to talk about revenue, profit, branding, etc. then we can have that discussion outside of the topic of it "tanking" when it comes to its "viewership."

This would be a dream if the show was based on the Secret Warriors run. As it stands now, the show is just ok for me and I might only be watching because of the Marvel name. Wish the show would have low-tier Marvel heroes and villains that couldn't carry their own tv show or movie

.

Boy, this show is insane with the cheese.

Whedon can do better than this. That "Iron Man" comment is perfectly demonstrative of the hokey dialog this show is guilty of.

It's frustrating...when the dialog is on point it's tremendous but...ugh, it feels like I'm watching a super cheesy version of a superhero-lite show starring Faith from Buffy.

That Iron Man comment seemed more like a way to cover the shoe-horning of the "too much iron in the blood" comment into the conversation, which along with the "rusty" seems to be hinting at what's going on with Coulson.

What this show needs is more extras as shield agents. The plane and when on field it's too empty.

Well, either that, or establish why these people are so elite they don't only get their own team, they also seemingly operate outside the rules of SHIELD. Fitzsimmons are brilliant scientists, Skye is a McGuyver-hacker, breaking into Pentagon files using an eyeliner and two rubber bands, Coulson died, and May and Ward are your generic bad-asses. What I'm curious about is why they got a special team for them. What is their objective, what do they do that other SHIELD-units do not?

Criminal Minds Red Cell established from the get go that these were top-profilers that were called upon in high-tension situations where time is of the essence and they work outside of FBI bureaucracy. The Shield established why Mackey had his own ragtag gang of cops working within their own set of rules. Mad Men established early on why Don Draper has an exceptional position in the firm. SHIELD fails to establish this.

I feel like it has to be tied somehow to Agent Coulson. What happened to him and why keep him at arms length, but still make him an active shield agent. There has to be a reason, it can't just be 'hey we decided to give you your own squad to operate quasi independently... because'.

It could be that whatever is responsible for bringing him back also makes him... fragile... to the elements in the larger picture, so they're keeping him active but more in the shadows.

I can't see him being an LMD, Fury is manipulative an d cold, but something tells me he wouldn't have reacted to Coulson in Episode II then way that he did if he knew he was talking to a machine. Frankly he might not be able to look at him.

Fury would've had to respond the same way he would to the real Coulson. Coulson definitely would suspect something if Fury ignored him or gave a lighter response than he did, thinking something was up. They have to keep the illusion going.

Finally saw the recent ep and it is the best episode of the series so far. It's not saying much, but if we got more like this that would be fantastic.

The overall story of the Marvel films seems to be the
Infinity stones
that power the
Infinity Gauntet
if the mid credits sequence from Thor: The Dark World are anything to go buy. So I wonder if any of the
5 remaining objects
make an appearance in Agents of Shield?

Could you spoiler text that? I'm sure there are many who still haven't seen Thor 2 and since this is a SHIELD thread, they won't enjoy being spoiled on that without warning.

Seen them all so far but.. Man does this show suck

Cant belive this is from Whedon?!

Anyway it feels like one of the shows from the 80-ies like A-team or Airwolf.. Only worse :(

It's probably not that big of a spoiler considering
Thanos
in The Avengers and the
Gauntlet
itself was shown in Thor. I guess I'll spoiler those just in case. Obviously the MCU is going to head towards that direction.

I guess I peeked in this thread too early. It does bug me that I know what to expect for the mid credits scene now even though as said above certain things being in Thor and Avengers.

:/

Hoping to see the film on Wednesday.

Sure thing dude.

Appreciate it.

I guess it would depend? There are a lot of people who watch the movies and the shows who aren't that versed in the Marvel Universe though. And of course even of those who are, some people just prefer to see the stuff themselves rather than be told about it. I wasn't trying to be uptight about it. Just thought it might be better to play it safe.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's pretty unlikely given the series thus far and what we know about how it's being made. Marvel seems to want it to be as inessential as possible to the broader MCU canon.

Great, a Thor movie spoiler in the Agents of Shield thread. Even if it's tagged, you should give some type of warning. Most would assume that your tag was something for this show. Ugh.

I hope this is not too much of a spoiler? It would help if you say what's the spoiler about, I wasn't expecting a Thor 2 related spoiler in this thread.

It sounds bigger than it is.
(Not really a spoiler, just clarifying my statement above, but I'm being extra-cautious.)
It's a sight-gag in the final act that pays off in a post-credits sequence.

It is not much of a spoiler but I would spoil and tag your references just in case some people do consider it a big spoiler. I am sorry, guys.

If only you would have mentioned it's about Thor it wouldn't have been a problem. Anyways, as far as I understand it's nothing too spoilery about the plot so I'm fine.

Tweens? I'm sure they're older than you.

Might as well be Tweens. No way you could respect these scientists. They are too goofy. Whole show is too damn goofy.

Really need to show a wider shield presence IMO. Just bad direction IMO to have a crazy crime scene where a dude (from last ep)
is floating in midair
and I only see Coulson and these stupid kids at the scene. In Law and Order SVU its not like only a couple of detectives are at the crime scene, as they are constantly interacting with the the surrounding police force.

They really need to establish why this team is elite, why they are separate from the global force, and the rules in which they operate. Everything seems so unbelievable right now, which is a crazy statement to be saying about a comic book show

Now that I've seen Thor 2, I'm ready to see how they tie in the movie to Agents of SHIELD soon. Is it this week or next week's episode?
