Their masons could have the equivalent of PHDs.
Ward had an asshole brother confirmed.
Tahiti is getting fucking old Whedon.
There's subtle hinting, and then there's jamming it down our goddamn throats every, single, episode.
The show needs to stop being so wildly inconsistent and stop using all these B-villians and casting terrible actors to play them.
Nope, that was Ward.Wait- I thought his brother was the kid at the bottom of the well?
Nope, that was Ward.
I thought the kid in the well was Ward's brother and the bully was the one who wouldn't let him save him. Which is why Ward is all "I need to kill every bully and save the world". He also said how much hate he has towards that bully, I doubt it was his brother.
Up on "The Bus," Ward (the hardcase) has taken over field-training for Skye (the hacker). It's not going well, evidently because if Ward and Skye got along we'd lose opportunity for maudlin back-and-forth dialogue scenes that spell out the thematic arcs of the series and individual episodes: This time, Ward offers that every Agent will have a "defining moment" that determines whether they're cut out for heroism or not; which may as well be a blinking sign reading "This is an important episode for Skye." In the course of this particular session, we learn that Ward has two brothers: An older one who was violently abusive and a younger one who looked to him for protection. (His "family history" was grimly alluded to in the pilot episode.)
This show is never going to be about superheroes, is it?
The pilot at least had some superpowers and a chance of people with superpowers teaming up, but that is obviously not the show we're getting. And the show we are getting is just, well, it's boring. Really boring, I can barely keep my attention to it.
I seriously doubt it. Apart from Modern Family, where it's part of the overall plot, are there any shows that have gay relationships?

Why would Asgardians need slave (or maybe just standard manual) labour to break rocks? They've got all sorts of crazy technology.
P.S. I enjoyed the episode. Also, +1 for the Skye/Simmons pairing.
What the fuck is that, Strobogo?
Is that some wrestling shit?

Why would you assume that we'd be getting a show about super powers with Agents of Shield? They do all sorts of things that aren't strictly power based, and their agents aren't traditionally supers to begin with. At most they tend to deal with containment, and we've seen them do that a few times within 8 episodes.
I'm just kind of baffled that you'd misread the intent of the show so completely. It was never, ever, going to be super power adventure hour.

Jeph Loeb is an idiot and thinks that "serialization" was the problem with Heroes. That's the second not-bad episode in a row. Isn't it about time they started a real story arc though?
I doubt there's anyone that didn't assume that when this thing was announced.
Even much later, when the first trailer hit, everyone assumed "oh, that's Luke Cage, he is probably going to make frequent appearances".
People certainly didn't assume "oh, he is probably a no name superhero that won't make a second appearance because this show is about these agents, not superheroes".
But when you make a Marvel show, in the Marvel universe, I don't see how you can't expect the show to revolve around the fantastical. As mentioned above, S.H.I.E.L.D. comics have always included superheroes and hell, even the live action S.H.I.E.L.D. were the ones that started The Avengers (Iniative). In fact, the very guy that has the starring role in this show played a major part in that..

Without a running thread to tie the episodes together, the shows just "there."I would love it if this show were serialized.
Now that I think about it, this is the only procedural drama I watch.
Why does this team exist? WE HAVE NO IDEA.
Well the masses are uninformed, I get that, but It's pretty logical to assume that we'd only be getting powered themed events every few episodes, they weren't building a mini Avengers here, and all the pre-release stuff said 'this is a show about tons of things, not just powers'.
That was dumb, then, because the title of the show is Agents of SHIELD.
That's what SHIELD does.To stop threats involving high tech, super powers, and alien technology.
It's not difficult.
That doesn't tell me why Coulson has a special team.
Wait, really?Jeph Loeb is an idiot and thinks that "serialization" was the problem with Heroes.
That sucks. Maybe in the future AoS will be serialized?

Well damn it, what's the point of it all then? What's the team overarching goal? No, it won't.
There isn't a reason to tune into next week. Everything is standalone. Nothing carries over. They've completely excised the necessary genre convention and it's the reason the show still has that "saturday afternoon '80s/'90s serial" feel to a large degree. That's beside the point since it's what Coulson and his team do as well.
