Air Jordan Collectors...

So how many people here collect Air Jordans, or any other shoes for that matter? I used to really be into buying them in the past, but I slowed down as I wear dress shoes 5-6 days out of the week, so spending hundreds of dollars on gym shoes I rarely wear was impractical. However recently a friend of mine found a guy that works at Finish Line that lets him use his 30% off employee discount, so he's been buying pretty much every new retro release. He was able to get me a pair of the Jordan 4 Royalty for $150, so I jumped on it...

I've never had a pair of 4s (I usually only buy 1s and some J Fusions), I'm not a big fan of the style, but this color scheme... year, I wear yellow gold and black so this was right up my alley. I also really want the OVO 12s that are coming out on the 18th, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to find a pair locally, and it's not that serious that I would want to drive 2.5 hours to Chicago and probably wait in line to maybe get a pair that actually fit, plus they are like $225...

So, what are your most prized kicks, dream kicks, etc, etc... Do you guys buy to wear or just to collect? I collect many things, but I use them all! For the most part.

I would collect them if they had some durability. My ceramic white Retro 3's only lasted 3 years at most, had to throw them out. I like to wear my shoes so I only buy normal Jordans now, no point in getting the expensive Retros.

I think it's super fascinating that people collect them, but I don't judge. We all have our hobbies.

I do like seeing all the designs though!

My first pair were the 16s (blue/white) I got my junior year of HS. I was so geeked to get a pair of Js I wore them with everything! Khakis, jeans... didn't matter, my friends made fun of me. Wore them bitches out!

I used to be big into buying sneakers a few years ago when I was still in college and had a chance to wear them. Jordan's, Vans, Nike sb. I've kinda stopped now because I don't really wear them as much and the prices have increased.

The only pairs I wish I had are space jam 11's, Bred 1's and Royal 1's. I figure they will get retroed eventually

One thing that sucks is like 8-9'years ago stuff used to fly off the shelves day 1 or you would have scalpers. Now I can walk into a kicks USA a week or 2 after and buy anything. But they are like $190 for 3's when they used to be $150

My most prized shoes probably are my Jordan 11 Concords. I wish I could get my hands on some Breds from that year as well, but not paying resell prices. I wish I had some 12s as well, but again I am not paying resell prices.

I now totally get the appeal of people getting fakes, but I haven't gone that route.

Because they don't produce them anymore which is a shame because they're my favorite design. I would wear them for the rest of my life if I could.

I still collect, even though I can't rock them every day like I used to due to work. Wearing some 2014 Black/Infrared 6s on a casual Monday in the office, lol.

My faves are still 1 through 14, with 1s and 4s being the most universally wearable casually to me.

The last year or 2 for copping these has been glorious...Jordan has been putting out OG remastered retros of lots of the original ones that were impossible to get in great condition (or impossible to get for non-resale price) - and since hypebeasts are currently flipping Kanye Adidas and trading in Adidas runners/casual shoes, Jordans are much easier to get for retail or less. I've picked up so many classics for less than retail, it's great.

I just picked up one of my grails - Space Jam 11s - this Christmas. I'm trying to source a pair of Banned 1s from last year, and hopefully I can get a pair of Royal 1s as well.

Rocking my 72-10 AJ11s today at the office.

The only AJs I'm looking at this year (so far) are the Alternate AJ6s dropping in March.

? They just released the true blue 3's, grey cloth 3's and the cyber Monday 3s. You can buy the true blue 3's now. They are just expensive at $220

I have quite a few pairs thanks to my brother working for Nike... 50% of at the employee store makes it easier to swallow the cost.

I'm more of an Airmax fan. AJ's just don't look good on me and of course I wear them

Airmax 90 FTW! Also the newer Air Max Zero is awesome

Currently looking into getting a pair of Adidas power lifts for the gym.

Love them, I've been buying jordans since I was a kid.

Jordan 3 and 5'sare my favorite design, I'll daily a pair and then turn em into gym shoe's.

1s are the GOATs, imo. I'm not a Jordans guy either but overall they're amazing looking sneakers. I'll have to buy a pair this year finally.

The 11's are like my all-time dream shoes ever since high school. I played ball in a pair of 12's way back then but they just weren't the same. Is eBay pretty much the best way to get a pair of 11's now days? I'm not plugged into the collectible shoe market whatsoever so apologies if that's a bad question...

I have 4 colorways of the XXXIs. You should be able to find a couple colorways on the Nike site at a discounted price. I am getting the All Star Game colorway this week.

You and me both. I have all the 11s I need, but I want some 12s. The fake route may be my only option if I don't want to pay resell prices (and they still may be fake).

I love streetwear, but I have never owned a pair of Jordans ever.


I have all of the Yeezy collection including the military boots and the 950s from Season 1, and I have the Air Yeezy 2 Plats though. Huge Ye fan.

I have about 20 pairs. Haven't gotten anything recently. My favorite two sneakers that I have in my collection would have to be the Ferrari 14s and the Beluga Yeezy 350s V2

On topic though - I don't get into Jordan's as I don't follow
basketball (or have a need for basketball shoes), but JCrew puts out some retro looking kicks that I like. Snagged some old school looking Nike waffle racers a while back. And I love their different New Balance stuff.

Since there are some sneakerheads in this thread, I am going to hijack it to see if someone can help me find a shoe that came out sometime around 2001-2002. I am pretty sure it is Team Jordan (not number Js), but I'm 100% sure it is definitely a Nike basketball shoe.

There were two color sets: Grey/White and Black/Blue
The shoe had a strap
The material was some kind of cloth material. I remember because my pair ended up tearing near the toe.

They were the most comfortable shoes I ever owned and I have been trying for years to remember what they were so I can try to hunt them down. Any help in finding these would be amazing.

back on thread, those XXXIs look really nice!

Well i got the flu game, space jams and the aqua 8's. I recently got the royal blue foams. I only buy the ones that I like and specific color ways. I'm dying for the Bred 13's tho.
