999 introduced me to the VN genre, since the day I played it no other gaming mystery hooked me as much as this series. After that cliffhanger in VLR, I need some closure, and I'm sure that many others feel the exact same way.

I'm not sure how likely it would actually be, but the series pretty much bombed twice in Japan but did pretty well over here. Maybe the concession to release it was a Western only release?

Do we know that there won't be a Japanese announcement accompanying it? Promoting the game with a simultaneous announcement isn't that hard to imagine.

But does Aksys have the resources for something like that, and would it even be worth it accounting for western sales? If there were that many fans here, to the point a profit could be made, you'd think Spike themselves would want to do it? Seems like a huge risk for Aksys.

Well, mobile games might surely be a lot cheaper than console games. There are really tiny companies that developed quite nice and big mobile (& PC) games. Sometimes, the barrier is not represented by development costs, but by channel distribution.
