horrifying. In a good way.
Alice was also annoying as hell, and with an even worse design.
Thank God she dies in nearly every ending.

I thought 0303 meant March 3rd date as well, but Uchikoshi is apparently 'announcing something' on Sunday.

If you take that upper case N from the word Novel and turn it by 90° you have Z. Now you can look for anagrams that contain the word "Zero", but only if you use the words from A and B. And like Lehow points out there’s the same amount of letters in each image. There could be further images C, D, E,... and/or we're not even looking at anagrams.
Without some hints from Aksys, there are just too many possibilities to keep on guessing.
That fact that we have an announcement on Aksys facebook page containing a Zero and a 3, combined with the fact that neither the guy from Aksys nor a mod has stepped in and told us to stop is a good indication that this might be it. The only thing that’s kept me sceptical since yesterday is the url 4infinity. It leaves open the (unlikely) possibility of either one or 4 infinity games being localized, but I think it's either a red herring or the Japanese name. Over there, the Infinity series was very popular, ZE wasn't. They could just call it "Extreme Escape Adventure: 4 Inifinity" over there to get a few more sales.
Maybe the second 03 will turn into a 02 tonight and we'll know that "Zero 3 will be announced in 2 days". Let's just wait, I think it’s looking pretty good that this will be it.

Well, as a VN its still incredible. Don't know what turns you off VNs, but its a great story without almost any of the fanservice style stuff that often finds its way into VNs.

Generally speaking, and until I'm proven wrong (which I may be at any point), a playable anime holds no appeal for me. People foam at the mouth over games like Danganronpa, but from what I've seen its exactly the kind of game I do not like. Too much emphasis on the story, not enough gameplay.
But this is different than something like The Order, which I really love. The big distinguishing thing is that I don't enjoy anime, its tropes, or its story lines. Victorian Knights, yes. Anime school kids, usually no.
But I love me some escape the rooms.
Sort of a big generalization to start disliking something from, but whatever.

Hey, maybe 999 will sell me on the genre. I'm this excited already. Maybe I just needed a little kernel of something I already liked to get me into it.
Not enough, apparently.
I can't wait till the announcement have nothing about ZE3.
Too many possibilties and not enough clues.
Tons of mods did talk about it happening. Unless they were playing with everyone's feelings.

I suppose I'll leave myself appreciative that you're at least open to it. Just remember that one of the things that makes anime unique is that it has a huge flexibility in what stories it can tell (unlike western assumptions about animated stories).
Notably, Zero Escape is one of the better franchises for avoiding the anime styled atmosphere.
And what does that tell you about it that drives you away from trying it?
I thought what he's talking about this Sunday is his upcoming anime? March 3rd wouldn't even make sense, and neither would "in 3 days" given the fact that this didn't start today. Zero 3 on 03 is the only thing that would make sense, going strictly by dates.
The escape rooms are the main reason I play them myself, and they're definitely great. I wouldn't say it's mostly a VN at all, it's got a lot of VN in it, but the puzzles have a rather large section. I'd say it's about 50-50, so it's more like a heavily story focused escape room game.
That's accurate, and if you want to get further into this sort of game, I'd suggest Catherine(puzzle platformer with a heavy focus on its story of infidelity) sooner than Dagan for someone who doesn't like anime tropes.

Honestly I also love Zero Escape a lot just for the room escape puzzles. I spent ages playing room escape flash games years and years ago. Then the concept just seemed to fade away and suddenly 999 presented this glorious return. Part of what makes it so great are the puzzles in combination with the story. I've tried to play some VNs after 999, including Ever17, but I lose interest. Not with Zero Escape (but then again, the story is really good).

You'll be doing a lot more non-interactive reading than actually escaping rooms. Maybe like 85-90% of the game is the former.

999 is anime as hell.
It's also funny you say that since Japanese mediums (mostly manga/anime/games) produce more "escape the room/Saw-like" stuff than anywhere else. Hell, I can think of 5 off the top of my head in visual novels alone.

High school murder mystery makes it sound like a slightly darker Scooby Doo.
It's a story about students trapped in a school and terrorized by a sadistic mascot, giving them the option of killing someone and not getting caught as their only means of escape. Gameplay-wise, it does take elements from Ace Attorney, but it's so much more than that. I'd argue it has far more "gameplay" than 999/VLR.
It's not a fight. It's a one sided slaughter.

IIRC, wasn't it supposed to take place in that one lab the virus that's talked about in ZE2 is released out of? Been a while since I played it last, but I swore that was the case.
The third game is supposed to take place in a Mars mission test site where the virus breaks out.
