Looks very mid.
After AW 1, I was expecting a bigger change in gameplay. I'm not sure what, to be specific, but something more...engaging, perhaps? And, for some reason, the original AW seemed creepier. The first Alan Wake they touted as a "psychological thriller". They were very clear about that, and intent on not calling it a "survival horror". For this one, they've already started marketing it and calling it a survival horror... Maybe that's why it
feels different. It's not as haunting as the first. But maybe it's because I'm older now, or maybe it's because of the segment they chose to show; I don't know...but this just doesn't do it for me. Visually, it's not that good either. Was also hoping for a bigger improvement, graphically. Maybe my expectations are too high?
With Sam's writing, I know the story is going to be great, like everything Remedy does. But, to be honest, I'm starting to fall out of love with Remedy's games. The stories are epic, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. I only finished Quantum Break and Control out of obligation, more than anything else. I really didn't enjoy them as much as I wanted to. I'll definitely play this, but I'll probably pick it up on sale, or if it hits Game Pass.
To this day, Max Payne is Remedy's best game, and I'll stand on that.
