I don't know what they are thinking half the time. They even had an AMA for Control on an openly racist/bigotted shithole (Era). They need someone with a brain over in Remedy ASAP.

Hearing Sam Lake say that AW2 would be Remedy's first survival horror game was exciting and that excitement was quickly dashed when the game play was revealed and looked beat-for-beat exactly like the original save for the enemy being a lot more of a bullet sponge.

So it's basically plays like a modern and traditional RE with over the shoulder camera and much faster flashlight mechanic. I'm in, as long as there's physical PS5 version available at launch.

I presume he means it's more horror based and scary. It looks more Resident Evil than the first one but we haven't really seen enough of it yet, I'm hopeful.

the player for some reason didn't bother going for headshots until the very last shot. Not sure how bullet spongey it really is without knowing how effective center mass shots are.

I like it, pretty short gameplay but it looks fun. The camera looks closer then i remember the first AW. I'm sure it will be great.

Bummer they shoehorned in a new player character.
yep. Nobody wants to play as some cop lady in Alan Wake game.
The game is not called "bright falls adventures". It's Alan Wake.
that + epic and digital exclusivity? Ensuring I don't want to buy it on pc and on console. Good luck chinese/epic remedy

Remedy is long gone.
Control was shit aside from cool destruction but again. It's just rigid objects. nothing fancy

They just showed 2 minutes of gameplay of the first game which wasn't good to begin with? I hope there's more to that.

Looks kinda mid to me.
Looks very mid.

After AW 1, I was expecting a bigger change in gameplay. I'm not sure what, to be specific, but something more...engaging, perhaps? And, for some reason, the original AW seemed creepier. The first Alan Wake they touted as a "psychological thriller". They were very clear about that, and intent on not calling it a "survival horror". For this one, they've already started marketing it and calling it a survival horror... Maybe that's why it feels different. It's not as haunting as the first. But maybe it's because I'm older now, or maybe it's because of the segment they chose to show; I don't know...but this just doesn't do it for me. Visually, it's not that good either. Was also hoping for a bigger improvement, graphically. Maybe my expectations are too high?

With Sam's writing, I know the story is going to be great, like everything Remedy does. But, to be honest, I'm starting to fall out of love with Remedy's games. The stories are epic, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. I only finished Quantum Break and Control out of obligation, more than anything else. I really didn't enjoy them as much as I wanted to. I'll definitely play this, but I'll probably pick it up on sale, or if it hits Game Pass.

To this day, Max Payne is Remedy's best game, and I'll stand on that.

Never got around to the first, but is it an actual survival horror, or a survival action with a ton of ammo like RE4?
They're calling it a survival horror, and I think that's where my problem lies. The first Alan Wake was called a psychological thriller by Remedy. And while, in theory, you can say it was a survival horror, it really didn't play like other survival horror games. I'm not sure exactly what made it feel different, but it felt different.

Today, they're calling it a survival horror, and it kind of shows. And I'm not feeling it. I'll reserve conclusive judgement after I play it, or see a lot more.

not happy on the split character feature, because my concern is that, normally with this kind of system,. both character will have different loadouts.

But still day 1 for me.

Wait, Alan Wake is only available 50% of the time in his own sequel? It may be cool to switch to another character but why call this Alan Wake 2? I'm just not getting the point in having dual protagonists in a titled game called 'Alan Wake'.

I didn't use to take this stance, but I guess I do have to skip it. How else can I communicate to Remedy (and their investors) that I am not interested? Another classic dev on the scrap heap. At least it's a banner year for boomer shooters.

Wrong title, they should've gone with 'Alan Wake 1/2'.

I'm cautiously optimistic. For me, part of what made the first game great was that it didn't take it's self too seriously. From small bit they have shown, it just seems like a depressing, super serious game. I mean the first game was cool and interesting in the beginning, but when the characters realized what was going on they just ran with it.

You "everything is woke" goons are way worse than the actual things you moan about.

Theyre not charging full price for it. So probably low on content or who knows wtf else.
It's not full price simply because it's digital only. Nothing to do with the amount of content. Though, I hope it's a 10 hour game with more focus on quality than quantity. No need for this to be a 30 hour game with bloat.

Not impressed at all. And Alan Wake is in my top 5 of all time games. Oh well, hope I am proven wrong and it ends up being good.

@ Represent. Represent. Agreed. It's too bad they only uploaded at 1080p, YT really mangles that.

Liking the ambiance so far. I'm a little surprised that they aren't pushing the graphics a bit more, but again the 1080p trailer might be the cause of that.
