So, this doesn't follow the rest of the Noomi Rapace storyline from Prometheus? I mean, I know that movie wasn't great, but geez, I thought we were going to follow her to the engineer/space jockey planet.
Am disappoint.
It does.

Just looked at IMDB and Noomi isn't listed in the cast. But I guess I'll withhold further judgment until we know more.It does, there's been nothing that said otherwise

Okay, I will take your word for it and speak of it no further. She's confirmed in it

So... Where is Noomi Rapace?
She was recasted with Katherine Waterston
Or is a different character?

The biggest disappointmentLooks like trash
Cinematography looks to be a huge drop off from Prometheus.
I think the alien design itself should have been redone for a reboot
I'd simplify it heavily to look less like a toy and more like a meaty, muscular land dwelling sea creature with gray skin.

Wait was James Franco supposed to be in this? Or was that a joke?

Is anyone else bored of the alien design?
you can never take comments posted on gaf too seriously. Gaf lives in its own little bubble when it comes to this kind of stuff
Harry Gregson-Williams was initially selected as the film's composer, but confirmed in November 2016 that he was no longer involved in scoring Alien: Covenant. Gregson-Williams summarized the reasons for his departure from the project as a mixture of scheduling and creative issues, stating that "schedules and one's expectations of scoring a film don't always fit and this one wasn't going to work out."
The biggest disappointment
That's a good thing. The first alien took a lot from it.It felt like a throwback to the 80s slashers, hehe.
I mean...at least we still have cool set and creature design.I don't even understand. Cinematography is like the only thing Scott has going for him nowadays and he can't even manage that correctly now.
This is a terrible comparison considering the original Blade Runner cut had some very dumb elements. The source material is irrelevant. Blade Runner wasn't recognized as an instant classic upon its release. Early crititcal reception was mixed at best. It didn't find its audience until people got to live with the film for years and consider its themes.
Prometheus appears to be on a similar trajectory.
Gotta be honest I was looking forward to Alien Girl and Robot Head's Big Adventure.
Has anyone talked about how the aliens seem to be oriented around the spinal column now instead of the chest? The tail of the xenomorph at the end resembled a spine more than it normally does.

Especially considering it came out in the late 70'sI'd be willing to bet a year's wages that the first Alien took nothing from 80s slasher flicks.![]()
Why would you go out onto an alien planet without an anti-environment/biological suit? Dunno why that takes me out of it so much but it does, haha. (Also they like gave up the whole plot with the black...thing?)
Kind of the same problem I had with Prometheus, you'd not go onto an alien planet with a giant fishbowl on your head. You'd be in some bullet-proof, anti-environment super-suit... but then the whole plot wouldn't have been able to happen, I guess.

Prometheus ain't on a trajectory for anything but people talking themselves into settling for less.

Yeah, this goes along with what the rumors stated. This movie has a new take on the xenomorphs called Neomorphs, which explode out of people's bodies and are essentially human/alien hybrids.
Because the Planet can sustain life?
Really?
