Alien: Earth | Official Teaser

They nailed the atmosphere and aesthetics. But the kids on adults bodies is funny for like 3 seconds, then it becomes retarded. Hopefully they can remotely update their personalities so they grow up? I don't think I can take a whole season of this.
Both episodes are full of stupid things - alien literally moonwalking in episode called Neverland - seriously? It's just so bad. 😂

And they should just move away from android characters, it feels like it's been done 10000 times in this universe, it's so boring. Last time it was autistic one in Romulus, now whatever they are supposed to be - it's just stupid. 😂

Honestly, I'm surprised that they didn't put baroque wig on alien, like Beethoven or some shit. 😂

First episode was great, I love the atmosphere and how they respectfully try to expand the lore, I hope you fuckers are wrong about the second episode being way worse

I mean, they wouldn't make a masterpiece in every episode. It's not as good as the first but it's ok.

Spoilers btw, I can't wait to see what the ceiling egg creature will look like

That jump off the cliff was just ..horrid. I thought I was watching Halo again.

Other than that so far so gooood..

So pretty!

Really enjoying this so far. Not that this is the biggest reason I'm enjoying it, but I like how they've managed to thread the needle of keeping the aesthetics of the technology from Alien without having it feel like it's from the 70s.

Yeah, I get why people didn't like the second episode, I still like the show a lot but it's obvious it doesn't take itself too seriously. First of all, it's not tension horror like the Alien franchise, more like action horror like Alien vs Predator, from the get go you see the Alien and it's slaughtering people non stop as Prodigy seem like the most comically incompetent motherfuckers with a leader that doesn't give a fuck. Second, the show is starting to become a little too crazy to be taken too seriously. Also the direction fell off a cliff in the second episode, it's still acceptable I guess but goddamn that great atmosphere in the first one seems to have disappeared

How did this get positive reviews? It's almost Star Trek Picard levels of shit. I had rock bottom expectations and it's somehow worse.
It looks good. The casting, set dressing, lighting, the visual side is fantastic. For some people that's enough.
While casting nailed it, the direction of actors is piss poor. Line delivery is the fault of the script and director. It's the Game of Thrones problem again.

Not only positive, but stellar first reviews at that and no one mentioned the dumb stuff, but as others said, the sets, the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the and of course the Xeno just killing with the speed of a super villain when the plot needs it's apparently enough.
Of course those are good stuff, but it's all surface level, thankfully not all feel this way.

In the first episode what you described wasn't that bad at all imo, in general the direction was far superior. I checked imdb and they changed directors. In the first episode it's the creator of the show and in the second it's some guy Dana Gonzales that has directed a couple of episodes in some shows, and the worst part is that he directs most episodes this season

Yes for sure. In these kinds of shows its normal to have a different director for every episode. That's actually okay if the script (the input before directing) and editing (the output after directing) is consistent.

So I finished first episode and it's…not bad? The 3 seconds with her taking her mascot and the sword was cringe AF, and the whole premise of taking multiple billion worth investments into some unknown scenario stupid as hell, but that's TV for you. Other than that I find the world building surprisingly decent.

TBH this is what the IP is all about, no need to get stupid "metaverse" shit complicated with Covenant and David nobody gives a fuck about.
Fair enough, you have a point here, most like Aliens better than Alien anyway and that's the alien they associate this franchise with, even though at core it isn't, based on the 1st movie and the Giger designs and symbolisms.

I also don't really care about David or Weyland, but still better characters than barefoot Boy Wonder and his quest of finding someone smarter than him.

I like both films, for me the Alien franchise is always about humans doing stupid shit and thinking they can control the xenomorphs, and every time it is entertaining to see them failing and everybody getting slaughtered. Then humans don't learn and here we go again. Actually that makes one of the scene in Resurrection (a pretty bad movie in the end) one of the best in the franchise, when Ripley says: "It's a queen, she will breed, you will die".

The problem with that is I guess that you can have one good movie every 4-5 years, since at the end it's still the same thing. But execs don't like that, so here we go for "shared continuity" and Prometheus world-building BS. I wouldn't even mind it so much if not for:

A. David stupid philosophy 101 snoozefest nobody cares about
B. People watching Resurrection and thinking the one thing IP needs is a bunch of stupid xeno hybrids (since that's the movie when this shit started)

Agreed, the rich boy techbro is annoying, as all the techbros are. Would have worked way better to have Weyland-Yutani instead as the focus.

Yeah, but humans doing stupid shit in those movies were more believable for someone that worked in those fields. I don't have a problem with that, I mean you open YT and the amount of stupid shit people do is big, but most of these are just regular people.

Half agree here, I would gladly take a bit of continuity over constant prequels or midquels - don't even know who to call these - and every director disregarding whatever they are not feeling.

Regardless of how weak Rez and Covenant were, I still prefer that dark weird and psychopath David stuff than brother sister melodrama.

Exactly, not even focused necessarily just on Wey-Yu, but these companies fucking each other, sabotaging, I mean these companies rule Earth and other planets.

They MUST circle back around to this crew and that android and his thirst for the great jiggly wigglies. I could watch that girl get into and out of cryo sleep all day :P

Episode 2 has Prometheus levels of stupid going on at times.
I just wish they would move past the "let me sloooooooowwwwlllllyyyy turn around and stare gape mouthed at this glistening black monster thing instead of filling it with hot lead!" bit, over and over. Yet, some folks are gonna freeze up, but if there is one thing I know, its that young guys with assault rifles LOVE to mag dump those things at the slightest provocation when they are all hyped up on adrenaline! I'd like to see a more aggressive posture. I mean, this "search and rescue" team is ALREADY going in with rifles out, tactically moving, so it's as if they expect trouble already. So when trouble shows up, why the confusion?

Watched the first episode yesterday and I really liked it.
IMO they did a good job nailing the atmosphere and visuals, the production values are pretty good and I think most of the characters are interesting. Not a fan of the kids in robotic bodies though, it was ok when it was just the one girl, but then it turned into a whole group and I just hope they don't spend that much time following them (or they do something interesting with them, have them go crazy or something).

I'm a bit worried hearing the negative takes about episode 2, but I guess I'll just have to see how bad it is.

Hawley seems to have this thing for slim women being "badass".
I really liked Legion but there's this one character, Kerry, who is supposed to be this badass figher, but it's some young slim girl playing the character and every single action scene with her is just pure cringe.

Whoa, then you are REALY not gonna like that that actress goes on to kill a Predator :P

saw the first 2 episodes, really good, nailed the look, the alien looks awesome (much better than Romulus!!), tons of homages to other alien films, fantastic music score with some really nice little hints to other alien music, good effects and entertaining... yeah the characters are a bit too much, but i can deal with that.. cant wait for more
