Alien: Earth | Official Teaser

No, no Alien comics at all.

The Dark Horse comics from the 90s were fantastic. Definitely worth checking out.

Speaking of 90s (the Golden Age of the franchise), the Alien novels from that period are amazing, especially the Earth Hive Trilogy.

It's criminal those books weren't adapted.

Ok, I was just wondering, since I assume you are an Alien superfan because of your avatar.

I have been considering trying out the Alien comics for a while, which apparently builds on Ripley's story among other things. But I find that comics built on movies or TV shows ain't always the greatest. A lot of it is products made to capitalize on a brand and not thought out or inspired. But I don't know if the Alien comics are like that.

It's ok, nothing stands out for me, it's sort of a mix between Alien and Aliens, which makes sense since those are the movies they're basing the show on.

Yeah, it's weird, I'm more of an OG Alien big fan and Aliens, but OG Alien has an edge. I used to like more stuff, I watched the AVP's multiple times, lol, but as the years go by I see how they diluted and disrespected the OG material.

As for comics, I don't really like comics, I'm sure some are really great, but it's just not my thing. Also a lot of stuff in comics wouldn't really work in movies at all.

+1 for the Earth Hive trilogy of books. Legit good.

Also worth pointing out that the writer and director of this is the guy who did Fargo. There does tend to be a bit of a cycle with Alien where people will convince themselves that the next thing will be good and then it's not. So maybe I'm setting myself up for that. But as I said above, Noah Hawley being involved has me interested.
I watched two seasons of Fargo and it was awful.

Not writing this off based on that junk that but I don't see it as a positive.

First episode had incredibly amateur writing and themeing. It feels VERY dumbed down, probably execs asking for things to be made accessible.

More interesting than whatever Alien Romulus had going but it feels like a fan show with budget.

Really liked the first episode. Cast seems great and the production value seems high. It looks and sounds like an alien movie. So far its on a higher bar then the last two alien movies.

Some cool ideas in the first episode, but I do feel like the pacing was overly drawn out. I was surprisingly a little bored.

I'm interested to see where they go with this though. Some really bold, novel concepts being introduced. Still could be something special.

Episode one was pretty good. Looked the part even though its a TV show. I'm worried that the kids might fuck this show up.

Jury is out.

Watched Episode 2. Decent for a TV show take on the universe, I'm in. I have a few problems with it but whatever I'll take anything Alien at this point that isn't completely shit.

Kids are not as bad as feared (so far)and could lead to some interesting situations.

I'm taking this isn't cannon with Alien or Aliens? Because there sure is plenty of life from other planets kicking around. It doesn't make sense if it is.

Have to be honest, after the end of episode 2 am not feeling it as much as I thought I would.

The writing feels quite ham fisted and dumbed down as others have noted, It's dissappointing because everything else like production value, acting etc is actually quite good. Will stay the course but I'm thinking this is a solid 7/10 rather than the 10/10 breaking bad level I was expecting from those early reviews.

That was some gripping TV

I have all four omnibuses of Aliens The Original Years. It collects all the Dark Horse stuff. I'm reading those in 2026. I used to read Alien Vs Predator comics when I was a kid. I loved those comics and I hope we get omnibuses for AVP since it's been so long since I read them that I forgot lot of stuff

I hate the fact that just one (vol2 IIRC) of that printing is insanely expensive, thus it is hard to get all 4.

I have all the Dark Horse trade omnibus(es?)(busi?) from back in the day so I think I have most of that content, but a larger hardback format would go well with a lot of the other stuff I have.

You're in fot a good time, but why 2026?

The main issue I have so far is that the show isn't focused only on "traditional" xenomorphs (this was mentioned in the previews so it's not any kind of spoiler, right?). We don't need other alien creatures, who thought it would be a good idea to add them to the mix?

Other than that it's not as bad as I thought it would be and the "kids" surprisingly aren't hugely annoying. Pretty nice production values (for a tv series) are also helping in making this more entertaining. I expected xenomorph scenes to be extremely short and scarce, glad that's not the case.
