You'd think someone/megacorps with that kinda cash to burn on experimental bodies would have controlled testing environment for that stuff rather than sending out units on the field where they could become irrecoverably lost shortly after activation.It seems like he is pushing their limits to trigger adaptations which would only be possible with the supercomputers inside their cyborg bodies. He has no concern for ethics and his motivation is selfishly pushing human evolution with his technology to create a generation of humanoids that surpass his intelligence.
But as you said there may be more behind sending inexperienced people on a very sensitive mission but I fear the show won't really justify it in the end.
