650 ipads for MPs are nothing

You should see what councils all around the country shell out for their Councillors. The figures dwarf this cost and are eyewatering.

However, because it's MPs it's an emotive subject and I can see why it's a big deal to some.

As someone that used to work for a county council, I can attest to this.

A lot of this has been embraced at a local level for years. Also I wouldn't be surprised if this was an offshoot conclusion drawn from the (Speakers) Digital Democracy Comission final report (published a few months back I think?).
