All hail Knack

People don't fully realize how ahead of it's time, Knack really was. Only in 2018 will you see the profound effects Knack had on gaming as a whole.

When ps4 is winding down people will ask what was the game of the generation. I will answer with knack.

To be
Honest I
Am really
Not getting this
Knack obsession.
Knack's a mediocre game
No better than your
Average PS2
Crap. This game's hardly the Mario
Killer you guys make it out to be.

This a troll post?
You know why I liked this game more than NSMB and 3D World?
Because it had an actual story.

You're taking this thread and the game too serious. Most people like Knack ironically. It is a cute little brawler that got promoted as the first big PS4 exclusive, which is a bit silly. It's not the game's fault it got pushed like that; Knack was just trying to be fun, not a console selling behemoth. Thus, people like to love Knack for the innocent B-game hyped like an AAA-game it is.

And on top of that some people seriously enjoyed it, as proven by this very thread. ;)

Read the first letter of each line. There's a reason why it's formatted funny.

Everyone always says to think of the children, and when someone finally does, it's all of a sudden a bad thing? Why I never.

Please read these quotes.

You can be childlike without being childish. A child always wants to have fun. Ask yourself, 'Am I having fun?' - Christopher Meloni

I do have a childlike enthusiasm at times. I certainly enjoy life and get pleasure sometimes in childish things. - Brian Baumgartner

When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
- C.S. Lewis

If it seems a childish thing to do, do it in remembrance that you are a child. - Frederick Buechner

If you smell what The Rock is cooking. - The Rock

Exactly.

Let's say you meet two people. One of these two says he's going to build a bridge that will connect England to France. This is a bridge that will cross the English Channel, and it's going to be the greatest bridge in the world. The other, who is more modest in intention, says he's going to improve the public transport in London.

At first, it seems the first endeavour is far more impressive because it's connecting two different countries and it's much larger in scale. But it's something that will take a long time, may not be very good when it's done, may already have better alternatives available (such as this magical tunnel I won't speak of), and ultimately may just be all talk due to the potential factor of ending in tragedy.

On the other hand, whilst improving public transport in London might seem like a minor thing, it would improve the quality of life in a number of way for millions of people, as well as help cut down on various other factors, such as environmental pollution, traffic etc. When you dig deep, you realise there is more substance behind what seems like the less impressive task because there is simply a lot more going on.

That bridge is FFXV and public transport is Knack. Sure the former is more ambitious, but is it really that impressive when it takes years of pre-production and five years of development when there is something that only took a fifth the amount of time, and provided people thousands of hours of enjoyment already? The bridge is only going to serve a certain amount of people, but the public transport improvement is a life changing thing that will forever hold its weight. And in time, people will begin to appreciate it even more.

Sometimes a small meteor that falls through the sky is beautiful to see, but not the one that's going to come and make an impact to the extent of making you extinct. You have to look at the bigger picture.

Someone should point the people saying there's no "next gen gameplay" over in the Digital Foundry thread over here. If only they'd seen Knack, they'd know that next gen gameplay has been with us all along.

Man this thread xD

Soon i will also be part of the problem.

Only 2 Days left that i can spend with my avatar...Then its time to say goodbye and live a 4 Months life of pain and sorrow...A Knacked time is awaiting me

To my credit, another guy with a Shy Guy avatar posted 'Horribly forced meme thread' earlier and I thought they were the same person :P

You're thinking of the other guy with a shy guy avatar. I'm a proud member of team Knack

I thought it was pretty good. It's especially fun in co-op, especially since player 2 comes back as soon as he/she dies. I played with my wife and would send her into areas before me to thin the pack out a little. The game gets surprisingly tough towards the end.

I would be very happy with a sequel with bigger, more open levels and more player agency in getting large/small again, going 'invisible' and using other materials to bulk up like wood and ice. Like, Knack + Super Mario 64.

Count me part of the Knack pack. Played it a month or so back and literally shat purple yoghurt over how much better it played than every other game I've ever played with the possible exception of Kya: Dark Lineage on PS2. It's an amazing achievement of a game and each night I go to sleep with a permanent erection at the mere thought of a sequel.
