All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with three flexible membership options

I am waiting for confirmation but it should do otherwise I am jumping to onto a lawsuit.

I bought ps now like 3 days ago for a year and a 12 month card ps now today.
When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.

Literally says it in the OP

Curious to see performance/enhancements of older titles! I'm not paying $18 per month for those unless they add improvements like Xbox does.

I can't believe people were expecting first party games at launch. Most of those games sell like crazy, why on Earth would Sony go down that route when there's no reason for it and would probably end up being a lot less profitable for them?
I dont get it either. Its as if some people think that a high-end escort should feel threatened by the cracker down the street giving out every second blower for free.

Missed that, sorry, cheers.

Not exactly a fan of the pricing, but 400-500 PS4/PS5 games is enticing nonetheless…

I borrowed, but never bought Returnal or Death Stranding (and probably the Director’s Cut too). That’s almost $200.00 CAD for me.

I’m pulling the trigger lol.

Because it will lead more and more people to Game Pass where they don't have to spend 70 bucks per game.

The problem here for Sony is that Xbox got a fantastic service right now where you don't have to purchase day one exclusives titles, and you get them across PC and consoles, with cross-save and cloud streaming. And all that is up and running.

Right now Sony got enough massive studios to produce tons of great games, but when the Bethesda machine starts up Xbox will easily match them, and when you combine that with Game Pass that will offer all of this within the service, it's gonna draw players over to Xbox, away from Sony.

This lackluster PS+ shit right here is gonna get smacked by Xbox over the next few years unless Sony takes this more seriously and understands what they are up against.

What a bunch of junk. Why in the hell would 90% of the population ever subscribe to that highest tier? And the streaming doesn't include any first party day 1 releases like Game Pass does? Fuck off. I bet it wont include any day one releases first party or not because Sony. Try harder before I go get me an Xbox.

So no day 1 games
PS3 games still streaming
that 2nd tier cost the same as gamepass ultimate and now they lock PS3 game streaming to a even more expensive tier lol easy pass for me

BOOM! And just like that double the subscribers of the Game Pass. Your move, Microsoft.
Yeah I suppose the “double the subscribers” is something to wave your Sony flag about.

What happens to the plain old Ps+ subscribers? Do they have to pay more now?

Realistically that's a very minor difference between what he leaked and what came out, things like that could very well have been modified between then and now.

But in general at least this is setting a precedent that he does have legitimate contacts in the industry.

Then he wasn't 100% right, was he? I'm aware he stuck "this could all change" as a safety net, just as he did when he claimed Goldeneye remastered was going to be announced some time in the last month and wasn't. It's no secret that Grubb has ears inside the industry but that doesn't make everything he says worth listening to when things do indeed change so frequently and rapidly.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Xbox fanboys, you might add. Sony doesn’t need to compete directly with gamepass, neither does Nintendo.

I think you're projecting it a little too much. Xbox fanboys didn't say anything, all the gaming outlets like IGN, Gamespot, Venture Beats etc are the ones who kept calling it "Sony's Game Pass".

Sure, I'll agree to that, but in general he has a better track record than others.

Also, with Goldeneye, the reason they haven't annoucned it officially yet (The Ukraine War) seems incredibly plausible, even Nintendo are delaying their games because of it.

No desire to play streamed games at all, so that mid tier is useless to me, and i'm not paying twice my PS+ price just to be able to download some of the games on PSNow
I'll reserve too much judegement until the game list is avaiable, but this doesnt look that much different to them just combining PS+ and PSNow into the same subscription to me

I was going to ask how many does ps+ users get now, its 3 or 4 right?
2 for each platform.
3-4 combined… depend if the PS5 games is exclusive or together with PS4…. When exclusive you have 2 for PS4 and 2 for PS5… when shared you get 1 for each and 1 shared (3 in total).

Some additional old games? 400 PS4 and PS5 games + 340 PSOne PS2 and PS3 games don't count?
Of course, it's an impressive amount of games, but against new triple-A games on day one, it's nowhere near enough. New games are always a lot more interesting and create more hype.

I love PS Plus and all the free games, but just this last fall I got Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite day one for no additional cost. That blew away anything I ever got from PS Plus.

So, if you already have PS Plus, you'll have to pay the extra for the premium service? So I'll have to pay another £50? I know they're migrating the PS Now service to PS Plus, so I'm assuming you'll have to pay the extra.

If that's the case, I'll just look around for a £50 PSN card for much cheaper.

Will you also be able to stream the PS5 games? Some of these PS5 games are over 100GB. Or is it just PS4 and below? There is a lot of questions not answered here.

I guess i’ll be downgrading my PS services to essential and keeping my GamePass sub. Unfortunate.

He didn't leak anything. Everyone speculated something like this after the Bloomberg article

Oh, I'll disagree about that. Plenty of Xbox fanboys act like sony NEEDS to compete directly with gamepass. Gamepass is great but sony not doing something exactly like it isn't costing them market share.

Lol what? 400 is LESS than Game Pass has and that's not including the incoming Activision drop

Uh, what? My Xbox has maybe 200 games, most are meh indie stuff.

edit:

Dunno where you're looking, site shows 453.

TIL there's more games on gamepass than I thought. It looks really small when I'm scrolling through it.

I have a good library of PS1-3 and PSP on my PS3 and Vita. Did I miss where I can download those to my new console because I don’t think I need this. 😉 I love that generation of consoles, so I purchased when I did.

I’m not that thrilled. I paid for most of the stuff either party wants to offer.

I hope that when you subscribe to PS+ Extra that your existing installed PS5 disc games will just work seamlessly like other digitally download games like on Xbox Series X. However, this is an area where Sony are a bit flaky as I have often had to uninstall an existing disc game to play the digital PS+ version, which is just annoying and really should not be necessary in my opinion. Sony really aren't the best when it comes to user-friendly features. I mean we still have to wait on a boring grey screen for PS5 games to finish copying/moving between drives, something that the Xbox One/Series consoles have been able to do in the background for years now!

I’m really hoping they will give us access to the ps1 classics we bought to dl on ps5 without a sub but I very much doubt that will happen. That said I’ll probably try it out for a month
